Turn-based strategy game developed by Digital Eclipse for the Nintendo DS console. Players lead one of five nations (Britons, Franks, Saracens, Mongols and Japanese) to victory in unique campaigns. Gameplay focuses on gathering resources, researching new technologies and forming powerful armies. We can choose from 45 various units, as well as heroes like Richard the Lionheart, Saladin and even Robin Hood. Age of Empires: The Age of Kings makes use of the unique features of the handheld, with main screen showing data about units and other information, as well as fights against enemies, while the bottom screen let us navigate on map and plan our next move. Aside from single player, there is a multiplayer mode for up to four players.

A first-person shooter belonging to one of the most popular game franchises ever created. The player witnesses an alternative course of the Second World War, in which Hitler struggles to create an army of undead super soldiers. The player is put in the shoes of B.J. Blazkowicz - an American commando, whose task is to eliminate the source of the threat located in the titular Castle Wolfenstein. Similar to PlayStation 2, the Xbox console received its own edition of Return to Castle Wolfenstein, which has been enriched with an additional assignment that takes place in Africa - it is the prologue that familiarizes the player with the events that took place before the protagonist got captured by the Nazis. In terms of the mechanics, the game is a robust shooter featuring stealth and action elements. Blazkowicz is able to perfectly handle various firearms used during the World War II as well as futuristic weapons. The protagonist encounters various enemies; among them, one can find regular enemy soldiers, mutants, skeletons or zombies for instance. The multiplayer mode for up to 16 players gathered via Xbox Live is an additional feature the game comes with.

In Dawn of War: Winter Assault the developers greatly expanded the single player mode by adding four separate story campaigns and many new functions. The expansion takes place on the cold planet Lorn V and focuses on a destructive machine called Dominatus. The machine was created in the volcanic forges of Mars and almost every race in the universe wants to get it and use in their own way. Playing as the forces of Order, the player can lead an Eldar strike force or a regiment of the Imperial Guard. The Chaos campaign allows us to control Orks or the traitorous Chaos Space Marines. Both the new Imperial Guard and the previously available factions received many new units. The visuals of the game were improved as well.

The juvenile heroes have also been improved, with each of them now born with a clean card, with the abilities developing during their adolescence. The game also has a new mechanic for the loyalty of our characters, and the authors placed more emphasis on lieges’ behavior. The whole package is complemented by previously unavailable character traits and new random events, as well as expanded diplomatic options.
