A tactical turn-based strategy game set during World War II; it was developed by Cat Rabbit studio, supported by the Slitherine company. Interestingly, the game is a virtual adaptation of a popular board game which came out in 2014. The game is set just after the D-Day, when the Allies landed in Normandy. Three playable armies are at the player's disposal - the Americans, the British and the Germans. Each of the entities involved was given its own in-game story campaign focusing on the titular heroes. Gameplay is turn-based and each of the armies has its own set of unique units, equipment and special abilities in the form of cards one can make use of. The game offers a solo experience and a multiplayer mode, but also a functional editor, allowing the player to create their own maps and armies. Heroes of Normandie comes with relatively simplistic visuals and a hilarious atmosphere.

Strategy, Singleplayer, Ships, Turn-based, American Civil War.
The second installment in the series of marine strategy games developed by Totem Games. After a series of spin-offs, the developers decided to return to the series’ roots, setting the action during the American Civil War. The plot of the game evokes a rather obscure episode of the war, the Battle of Mobile Bay. The authors decided to employ a “what-if” scenario, in which Confederacy has successfully reached out to Austrian government in an attempt to strengthen their navy. The deal went through, and the Union forces are met with a formidable enemy. Ironclads 2: American Civil War uses a similar gameplay model to the one found in the Total War series – turn-based planning on a strategic map with real-time clashes supported by an active pause. The game offers challenges such as hunting ships, hiding in ports while awaiting for supplies, blocking trade routes, and open sea battles. As per series’ tradition, the authors have prepared faithful recreations of the ships of the era, including their technical parameters and armament.

Side-scrolling action game with original mechanics, which can be described as a post-apocalyptic car brawler. Ironkraft: Road to Hell is a debut project from Invoker Studios, whose employees previously worked on Ryse: Son of Rome, The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing trilogy, and even The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. The game is set in a wacky alternative version of the World War II. Our planet has been taken over not only by the Nazis, but also zombies and aliens, and the remaining humans dwell in isolated colonies. Only the so-called Roadtrackers dare to travel the dangerous roads in order to carry goods in their massive cars. As one of them, the player gets a fully customizable vehicle, which can be equipped with loads of gadgets and deadly weapons – which are as crazy as the game’s themes. While driving this monster-on-wheels, the hero traverses 2.5D levels like in a classic platform game. In order to reach his destination he has to overcome environmental obstacles, fight enemies, and search for hidden treasures.

A mobile installment of the popular Worms series – strategic turn-based games in which heavily armed worms fight against each other. As usually, the title is developed by Team 17. Worms 4 is based on the well-known set of rules - there are two or more teams of worms and players who interchangeably control individual “soldiers.” The game comes down to dealing as much damage to enemies as possible in a given time frame. Worms make use of a wide arsenal of crazy weapons and gadgets, but while using them, you need to remember about the influence of gravity and wind. Moreover, almost every environment element is destructible. In comparison to previous installments, Worms 4 introduces a few changes. As it is a mobile production, the scale of battles is reduced, the teams are smaller, and the time limit reduced. The title features new kinds of weapons and some diverse game modes, including an extensive single player campaign. Naturally, multiplayer is the backbone of the game.

An unusual adventure game by Funkatronic Labs, combining elements of platformer and turn-based strategy productions. The plot of Nova-111 revolves around the effects of an experiment conducted by 111 ingenious scientists from an alternate world, where time flows in turns. The result of their actions is an anomaly that merged both worlds. As a pilot of the research vessel Nova, we have to find and rescue the scientists and to remove the anomaly to separate the dimensions. While playing, we explore two-dimensional levels that resemble those from traditional adventure games. However, most actions — including movement and combat — take place in turns. The production features many strategic fights and arcade challenges, but the main emphasis was put on solving puzzles, most of which require us to creatively use the protagonist’s special powers. Another key gameplay element is gathering parts that enable us to enhance our ship.

The gameplay is built around the exploration of a virtual world which often throws numerous riddles at us and sees us face the aforementioned monsters. Our hero traverses the levels by jumping, swimming, or even flying, all the while gathering gems and keys using a special boomerang. Sometimes, our way is crossed by independent characters, offering their support as a reward for helping them out.

An unusual arcade game from the South Korean studio Bulosodeuk. The story focuses on items that have spent too much time on the shelves of One Hundred Denarii shop. They come to life after the owner leaves and share with each other the stories about their previous incarnations. This lets us follow a pot which used to be a shuriken or a cleaver that was made out of a ball’s remains. Redden presents the players with 33 locations from various historical periods, with each mission starting with a shot bullet that we control. Our task is to avoid obstacles by using wind and accelerating. Even though our main objective is to reach the end of the level and destroy certain object, there are also optional objects to destroy, as well as characters that we don’t have to kill. Each type of bullet has different properties in the form of special powers that can make our task easier. All of this is presented in pleasant, two-dimensional visuals, which are quite unique due to their colorful backgrounds that contrast with black objects in the foreground.

The game features nicely designed maps full of platforms, enemies, and obstacles, making it more difficult to break records. You can find many collectibles and fight various bosses. The characters can be upgraded (they have three statistics: speed, strength, and acrobatics) and unlocked. The game's beautiful 2.5D was inspired by classic 8-bit and 16-bit console productions. The third entry in a popular mobile series that combines the features of roguelike RPG with the game mechanics of an evergreen classic, Minesweeper. It has been developed by Red Winter studio in cooperation with tinyBuild Games company. The story of Dungelot: Shattered Lands is set in a typical fantasy world, filled with magic, monsters, and various races. We play as a hero belonging to one of several classes with different skills and explore randomly generated dungeons. This is done by progressively revealing more fields hiding precious parts of equipment and treasures, as well as monsters, obstacles, and dangerous traps. In case of a confrontation, further exploration is locked until we beat the enemy, using various attacks and spells at our disposal. As we progress through the game, we will keep finding keys that unlock subsequent chambers. We also earn experience points, used to develop our character and allowing him to learn new skills.
