The developers of Extinction claim that while humans always kept fighting with each other, the aforementioned monsters were the real threat and they finally decided to step out of shadows. Only specially trained Sentinels can face them and there aren’t that many of them left. The player assumes the role of one of the last Sentinels – a warrior named Avil. The title is an action game that focuses especially on combat combining action with tactics. The protagonist is a very agile and fast warrior who can immediately climb buildings, run on walls and jump. His main attribute is a special whip that can be used both for moving and for disarming opponents. In addition to story campaign, the game also offers two additional modes in which the player can fight other players or stand against waves of enemies.

An enhanced port of Mario Kart 8 developed for Nintendo Switch. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe reprises a lot of elements known from the two previous installments of the series, such as motorcycles, gliders, the ability to perform somersaults, or underwater racing. However, the developers introduced an interesting novelty – anti-gravity racing, in which we can stick to walls or even to the ceiling. The game doesn’t contain a story-driven single player campaign – we focus on taking part in a series of competitions in which we can race against AI-controlled opponents, as well as other players. Mario Kart 8 contains several multiplayer variants, including online as well as local game modes (split-screen, or a wireless mode for up to eight players). The new edition contains all of the content present in the original game, including released add-ons, at the same introducing new tracks and characters, such as Inkling Girl, Inkling Boy, King Boo, Dry Bones, or Bowser Jr.

This game is set in the universe created for the Front Mission series. The players assume the role of three heroes trapped in a war-torn Russian city. Left Alive presents the events in the third-person perspective. As you complete consecutive missions you must fulfill diverse, non-linear objectives. An essential part of gameplay is combat – on the battlefield you get to use both firearms and self-made traps, as well as other deadly gadgets against your enemies. Alternatively, you are free to put down your guns and use a stealthy approach. Apart from enemy infantry, from time to time you must fight the so-called Wanzers, i.e. powerful mechs, iconic for the Front Mission series – interestingly, there are several occasions in the game, in which you can control one of those and strike fear in your opponents’ hearts. Other strengths of the game are high quality of graphics and atmospheric soundtrack.

The sequel to the 2006’s third-person action game which was created as a response to the popularity of the Grand Theft Auto series. The action of Saints Row 2 takes place several years after the events of the original, when its protagonist, wishing to take revenge on the traitors that made him lose his current influence, finds himself in serious trouble. Mechanics-wise, Saints Row 2 does not introduce too many novelties and bases on the tried solutions of the original. In the game, we once again assume the role of a Stilwater gang’s member, and our tasks it to perform subsequent missions and thus progressively build respect that is essential to buy new vehicles, weapons, or items of clothing. The main differences between the two installments of the series include, first and foremost, a significantly bigger area to explore, a large number of previously unavailable vehicles, and even richer customization options for the protagonist.

A very well-made hack-and-slash game, created by a small studio Runic Games, whose members contributed to such productions as Hellgate London, Mythos or the Diablo franchise. The story begins in the eponymous village of Torchlight, under which large deposits of a magical ore called ember have been discovered. However, the sudden mining boom resulted in another discovery, this time of a great evil lurking underground. This is where the protagonist steps in. You choose from three character classes: Alchemist, Destroyer and Vanquisher. Every class has branched development options and a unique fighting style. The character is accompanied by an animal follower, which helps you with fighting and can carry your items. Like a proper RPG, Torchlight features dynamic real-time combat utilizing the isometric view. The defeated foes drop large quantities of money and useful items, which can be equipped by the protagonist. The visuals are similar to those of Diablo III, although they are slightly more “sugary.”

Apart from having the best lap time and being the first one to cross the finish line, you should also eliminate your opposition as brutally as you can. Therefore, the races overflow with vicious competition, and the tracks quickly become covered with car wrecks of the defeated. The game features complex car customization both in terms of appearance and performance. From the technical side, the game catches the eye with well-polished graphics and advanced damage system, which impacts not only how the cars look but also how they behave. You can race alone, competing against AI, or take part in one of many crazy multiplayer modes.

A tactical turn-based RPG developed by the creators of Halfway. The story in Pathway is set in the 1930s and revolves around powerful ancient artifacts. The Nazis search for them, trying to beat the private collectors’ associations to it. The player takes control of a group of independent collectors – Lankford & Co – and attempts to find the ancient relics before they fall in someone else’s hands. The group controlled by the player comprises some eccentric characters, who carry out a number of dangerous missions taking place in the ruins of ancient civilizations, tombs filled with traps and monsters, and even Wehrmacht strongholds. Most of these missions offer players much freedom in the exploration of large locations; however, they also require them to fight many battles using the turn-based combat system. In between the missions, the player gets to the base in which he can manage his team, talk to NPCs and make story-related decisions. The creators of Pathway decided to implement the pixel art style enriched by modern visual effects, such as dynamic lighting.

A DLC for Dragon Age II, the second installment of the popular fantasy RPG series by the experienced studio BioWare. Dragon Age II: Legacy is a new adventure that can be started at any moment during the main campaign. It starts with an attack of a dwarven Cartel that hunts the Hawke family for an unknown reason. The investigation takes the protagonist and his companions to a Grey Warden prison in the mountains, where they discover the truth about the the protagonist's father and the identity of his persecutors, and also face the most powerful of all Darkspawn. Apart from the aforementioned prison, the expansion introduces several other areas, including vast wastelands. We will encounter a few new beasts on our travels, such as brontos or genlock alphas that hide behind giant shields. Beside the main storyline, Dragon Age II: Legacy offers side quests as well as previously unknown armor sets and special weapons that can be customized.

Even though the game utilizes the framework created for the previous installments in the series, the authors decided to implement a number of changes, improvements, and fresh solutions, the most prominent being a new graphics engine. The so-called Sudden Strike Next7 can render enormous and diverse locations as well as multiple units at the same time, allowing for creating dynamic lighting and shadowing effects. Because of that, the players can freely move the camera and precisely zoom in on the events taking place on a battlefield. Sudden Strike 3: Arms for Victory offers an entirely new interface allowing one to control multiple squads – this regards both ground and naval units. The game puts a strong emphasis on the battle preparation – the developers have taken care to introduce a new logistics system, as well as the option to create defensive systems. What is also worth mentioning, the game supports multiplayer matches that accompany the standard single-player campaign.

The gameplay focuses on traveling through Europe and delivering various types of cargo to selected destinations. During the missions the player visits streets of some famous European cities, including Rome, Berlin, Madrid and Prague. The cities feature their characteristic architecture and recognizable locations. The game is powered by the same engine that was used in the previous games developed by SCS, albeit greatly improved. Thanks to that, the routes are longer, the areas are larger and the vehicle models are even more detailed.

As suggested by the title, Rome: Total War – Barbarian Invasion focuses on a very unfavorable time for the Roman Empire between 363 and 476. At that time, Europe had fallen under the reign of barbarian tribes, while the east had a new power player emerging in the form of Persian Empire. The said expansion offers a completely new single player campaign and ten completely new nations, such as Western and Eastern Roman Empire, Persian Empire, and numerous tribes such as Huns, Goths, Saxons, Franks, Wandals, Sarmatians, and Allemans.
