The debut production of Broken Window. It is a sandbox arcade action game with survival elements. The action of Grave takes place in grim and slightly surreal wastelands that are desolate and relatively safe during the day. At night, however, various kinds of disgusting monsters come out to hunt for the player character. Although the game doesn’t feature traditional weapons, the protagonist is not completely defenseless — he can use various tools and items that can serve as weapons when necessary. The title is characterized by the constantly changing world which is governed by an advanced system of procedural content generation. The artificial intelligence of monsters also deserves a praise since they behave like true predators, using various senses and attacks.

The time between the events can be used to upgrade our scooter, improving its performance by increasing the air time or overall speed. The rider can also be customized by changing his apparel, outside looks, or equipment. The game makes full use of Razor’s license, introducing numerous scooters and items from the company’s catalogues.

The protagonist’s main task is to stop his/her beloved from marrying the wrong person. To this end, we must get to the far side of the United States after having collected the money for the journey. Always Sometimes Monsters offers many various solutions of a given problem—the player can decide what job to take, how to speak to the encountered non-player characters, or what to sacrifice to achieve the ultimate goal. Decisions we make directly influence the protagonist’s fate and the game’s ending. Always Sometimes Monsters was made with RPG Maker which is the reason why it features very simple two-dimensional graphics and a camera placed at 45 degrees angle.

A tactical turn-based RPG and the debut production of Nodbrim Interactive. The action is set in a fantasy world where an ingenious engineer developed a steam engine. With time, it lead to the creation of powerful combat suits that resemble mechs. They replaced standard armed forces in an eternal war. The player assumes the role of a commander of an organization established to end the conflict once and for all. Travelling from location to location, we encounter enemies, talk to characters, and try to fulfill our goal. The main highlight of Acaratus is its turn-based combat – in battles, we assume control over a several-people strong unit. The gameplay speed is turned up by the fact that the faster we end our turn, the more action points we get in the following one. When our opponent is issuing orders, we use command points to buy special cards that provide helpful bonuses. Having a complete deck, we draw cards from it during combat. In Acaratus, we can construct our own battle machines by choosing individual parts and armaments and then enhance them.

A shooter from Arena FPS genre developed by the German studio Reakktor Media and inspired by FPP shooters from the 90s. The story of TOXIKK takes place in the 22nd century, when mega-corporations and cartels took over the Earth after a global energy crisis. Two of such companies play major role in the game: EXOCOM and DRAYOS, competing for EDEN – a recently discovered mineral that can remedy the energy problems of the world. Gameplay is reminiscent of a mix of Unreal Tournament and the Halo series, with two types of maps: Classic (fast-paced battles for 8 players) or Massive (more tactical skirmishes for 16 people). In dynamic battles, we can use 9 different guns which can be found on maps, each with two firing modes. Thanks to the purely aesthetic character of the customization system, the game is fair and highlights the individual skills of each player.

The action of the game takes place in the future, in which humans have launched space colonization program in search for intelligent forms of life. After waking up from cryogenic stasis, the main protagonist discovers that the majority of the crew aboard the space ship Goliath has been murdered following an extraterrestrial hostile boarding. Player’s task is to fight off the aliens and regain control of the ship. On his way, the main protagonist meets other survivors, who join him in his mission, and together they explore the ship and fight turn-based battles against the enemies. In these battles, the player can use a number of characters’ special abilities. The plot is an important aspect of the game, allowing the players to systematically uncover the mystery behind what has actually happened aboard the Goliath, and what might be the consequences of that incident for the entire human race. The game features old-school visuals resembling the classic 1990s video game productions.

An online action game with MOBA features set in fantasy world, and the debut project from the American studio, Motiga, established by veterans of the gaming industry led by James Phinney (StarCraft, Guild of Wars). Its story takes us to a land filled with magic and fantasy races, while the game itself concentrates on skirmishes between two teams of five people. Each player takes control of a selected hero with unique skills and equipment. The teams don’t fight by themselves though, as they are supported by eponymous giants, controlled by AI, the most durable and deadly units in the game. The main objective is to defeat the opposing team’s giant, which can be weakened by capturing certain points on the map. Typically for such games, we observe everything from third-person perspective and develop our characters during a match, use environmental objects, and combine attacks into deadly combos.

Building better or worse relationship with our boss is crucial – Ortega will react to our actions, leaving us letters or notes. It has been developed by the Polish Kubold studio led by Jakub Kisiel – a former employee of CD Projekt RED and People Can Fly, who worked on titles like Bulletstorm, Gears of War: Judgment and The Witcher 3. The story of Aliens, Trolls & Dragons takes place in a distant future, in which new planets have been colonized or discovered, including a one with civilization similar to Earth’s medieval period. We play as John Knap, a security chief of a science expedition that crashed on said planet, who has to discover the truth behind the catastrophe and rescue the science team from the hands of the hostile locals. We fight using a vast arsenal, starting with simple melee weapons and ending with advanced technological gadgets like paralyzing rifle, tactical goggles and drones. The game is powered by the popular Unity engine and support Oculus Rift VR set.

After saving the daughter of Mayor Johnson, the protagonist returns to his hometown, which in the meantime was attacked by bandits. Without thinking too much, Clive begins chasing the leader of the villains, as capturing him is the only way to save his home. The chase takes place across half of the world, enabling the Swedish studio Hörberg Productions to make campaign levels more varied. Levels are filled with obstacles and enemies to defeat. Among the latter there are powerful bosses. During the journey the gunman is accompanied by friends with different abilities. All of this makes the game more interesting than its predecessor. The visuals are more impressive as well – two-dimensional levels are intertwined with 3D sequences that take advantage of the possibilities offered by 3DS console. The game works in constant 50 frames per second.

The game utilizes the GamePad and its touchscreen. You use it to draw rainbow platforms in the clay world, which are then used by Kirby to move around and also avoid obstacles and enemies. There are standard levels and special maps, on which Kirby transforms into various machines and vehicles, such as .e.g. a submarine or a tank. This makes the gameplay more platformer-like, which is evident from boss battles, usually taking place at the end of a given level. The game features nice, very colorful visuals.

When he finds what he was looking for, he almost dies, and on the “other side” he notices beautiful colors unlike those in his monochromatic world. Obsessed with them, he starts to cross the line separating life from death. The non-linear story features multiple endings, and the gameplay consists mostly of exploring, talking to NPCs, and battling enemies. In terms of visuals, Chromophore: The Two Brothers Directors Cut is based on Game Boy productions, featuring pixellated 2D graphics, a specific color scheme and an atmospheric soundtrack.
