Another intricate strategy game, advertised by a name of a legend of the genre: Gary Grigsby. Eagle Day to Bombing the Reich attempts to faithfully recreate the bombing raids on Germany, conducted by the Allies during World War II. For greater immersion, the game contains an impressive database of over 18 thousand historical pilots, while in-game units and plane models were recreated from their authentic counterparts. The developers hadn’t forgotten about real locations and new nationalities taking part in the conflict. Previous Talonsoft titles such as Battle of Britain or 12 O’Clock High: Bombing the Reich served as inspiration for the mechanics, but Eagle Day incorporates numerous novelties and upgrades, such as improved pilot AI, reworked gateway system, or detailed statistics for every encounter. The game receives a serious jolt of reality thanks to new mechanics for altitude, fuel usage, or bomber functionality.

The first major expansion for the 2010’s strategy game by Firaxis Games. Sid Meier’s Civilization V: Gods & Kings offers a myriad of novelties, among which the expanded religion module is probably the most important one. It introduces a new aspect to the game, namely faith, thanks to which we can establish and develop our own religion. This, in turn, allows us to gain useful bonuses and gives us access to specific units (missionaries, inquisitors) or buildings (cathedrals, mosques). In the game, there are 27 units, 12 buildings, 9 Wonders, and 9 previously unavailable nations such as the Dutch, Celts, and Mayans. The players also received three exclusive scenarios: the fall of Rome, medieval era, and a steampunk Victorian world. Moreover, the developers reworked such gameplay aspects as free cities, diplomacy (the possibility of hiring spies and agents) and combat (better artificial intelligence).

The game was created by The Chinese Room, the developer known for Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs and Dear Esther. The game is set in a small village in Britain. Each playthrough lasts 60 minutes and you have no clear objectives to follow. The open world is inhabited by 6 independent characters, each one having their own ideas on how to spend the last moments of life. Playing as one of them you get to freely explore the world and interact with other characters to influence their fate and behavior. The game was designed for multiple playthroughs, each time to discover something new and shape the story differently. The game’s world created with CryEngine 3 features high level of interactivity, as almost every object can be manipulated.

A strategy game that takes place in space, developed by MiniMax Games. The player’s task in Space Pirates and Zombies is to explore the randomly generated galaxy and fight the growing zombie plague. While playing, we command a small fleet that we expand with new units as we gather necessary resources by completing various missions. In combat, we make use of the tactical aerial view that helps us manage a large number of vessels. Technological development is an important aspect of Space Pirates and Zombies. Defeating enemies, apart from valuable experience points, grants us blueprints that unlock new spaceships. Exploring the space, we can find parts that enhance the statistics of our fleet or, alternatively, buy them on the interplanetary market. The game received a free expansion entitled Bounty Hunters that includes new bounty hunters’ ships, the respect system, and challenges, among other things. Space Pirates and Zombies features graphics that are full of bright explosions and colorful nebulas.
