The fourth main installment in the popular FPP looter shooter series from Gearbox Software. In Borderlands 4 we end up on the planet Kairos, facing off against a dictator known as The Timekeeper. There are 4 playable Vault Keepers, each with their own skills and playstyles. We can fight various enemies and collect randomly generated loot, playing alone or in 4-player coop.
Borderlands 4 is the fourth main installment of the shooter series that has existed since 2009, representing a subgenre of games called looter shooters. The game was developed by Gearbox Software studio, which started the series, while its publisher is the company 2K Games, which oversees the brand.
Borderlands 4 continues the events from the third part - one of the moons of the planet Pandora (the main location of the previous installments) has been moved to a distant corner of the universe. It collided with another globe called Kairos, ruled by a ruthless dictator known as The Timekeeper. The disaster shook the order he had established - just like the arrival of adventurers (Vault Hunters) from Pandora, who intend to thwart his plans.
Throughout the story, characters known from previous games appear, such as Claptrap, Lilith, Moxxi, Amara, or Zane.
In Borderlands 4 the action is viewed from a first-person perspective (FPP).
In accordance with the tradition of the series, the game offers us four playable characters to choose from.
Each character has three individual skill trees to develop, assigned to special active abilities.
Borderlands 4 offers greater exploration freedom than previous games. The surface of the planet Kairos has been divided into four zones implemented in the form of open maps without loading screens, where a wide range of side tasks and other activities await us (like participating in random events).
Moving around vast spaces is facilitated by new skills, such as gliding in the air, and the ability to use fast chasers that levitate above the ground.
Just like before, a very important part of the gameplay is collecting loot, with weapons at the forefront. Guns are randomly generated based on various parts and statistics, appearing in a range of varieties (from pistols, through assault rifles and shotguns, to rocket launchers or handheld cannons).
Borderlands 4 features previously unseen weapon manufacturers (determining basic stats of the weapons). The novelty is also the possibility of equipping the arsenal with parts from various companies, which gives the weapon hybrid features.
Apart from weapons, we equip ourselves with other items, such as grenades or syringes, which allow us to heal the character or provide other bonuses at a chosen moment.
The battles in Borderlands 4 have become more dynamic thanks to the ability to use new moves on the battlefield such as dodges or swinging on a rope to quickly jump from one end of the arena to the other.
Enemies usually attack in groups and there is a great diversity among them. There is also no shortage of minibosses and bosses - the developers devoted more attention to the latter to make the battles with them more memorable. They can also be repeated multiple times (similarly to some of the story missions).
Similar to the previous parts of the series, Borderlands 4 allows for single-player gameplay or online coop for up to four people (interestingly, each of them can individually adjust the difficulty level to their preferences). Thanks to the cross-platform function, users of different gaming platforms can cooperate with each other.
Borderlands 4 was released in three digital editions: standard, Deluxe, and Super Deluxe. There was a pre-order bonus for everyone - a small DLC Gilded Glory Pack featuring skins for weapons, ECHO-4 drone and for the main character.
The Deluxe Edition, in addition to the base game, offers a weapon skin called Firehawk's Fury and access to the Bounty Pack Bundle, which consists of four post-release add-ons. They introduced new areas with special missions and bosses, Vault Cards with unique challenges and rewards, vehicles, equipment items (including weapons) and character customization items.
The Super Deluxe Edition adds the Ornate Order Pack with several elements changing the appearance of the main characters, as well as the Vault Hunter Pack, which is a set of two large post-release add-ons for Borderlands 4 - each of them is a new playable character and a storyline with a previously unavailable region of the world, as well as numerous items and other attractions.

Borderlands 4 is a looter shooter that knows how to walk the fine line between too much and too little. It adds to a long history while introducing new features that make it difficult to return to earlier games. It is a crazy, beautiful, and always fun trip into the heart of Gearbox’s biggest and best-known world yet, for both longtime fans and newcomers.
Completexbox: 90 / 100
I’ve spent around 55 hours ploughing through the main story. I have barely touched the side quests, and there are some areas untouched. This leads me to believe that I have hours of action left to explore. The plot is so good that I’d happily enjoy it repeatedly with each Vault Hunter build. Consequently, this should have hundreds of hours of gameplay if you so wish. Borderlands 4 is GOTY material. Juggling this and Dying Light has not been easy. Both crave attention, and I don’t have enough hours in my life. However, it has been a pleasant change of pace and a challenge I would accept again. Borderlands 4 is packed full of energy, madness, and weapons. The open world is great, and the plot is zany, ridiculous, and worth every second. Accordingly, this is GOTY material, and you should pick up a copy from the Xbox store.

Playing Borderlands 4 can be a bit of a rollercoaster. Often, it's a shot of unadulterated chaos: a gleefully gory cavalcade of bullets and bloo...
