An extremely popular MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) game, produced by Riot Games. League of Legends is set in Valoran, a fantasy world that has been torn by a bloody war for centuries. However, the opposing nations found another way of resolving disputes – duels fought by their representatives in the arenas. The game has been designed with multiplayer mode in mind, based on rivalry between two teams composed of several people. Each player controls one character. The key to the victory lies in cooperation between the team members and the ability to make good use of the individual strengths of each character. The game is using free-to-play business model with optional micropayments for some items and features.

A mobile online game which combines elements of shooters and MOBA games. Brawl Stars has been developed by the creators of Clash of Clans, Hay Day, Boom Beach and Clash Royale. The game features only a multiplayer mode. The players get to select one of more then a dozen available characters, each featuring different weapons, assets, and a special ability, after which they enter arcade battles taking place in special arenas. As the player's character is developed, their battle potential increases. Brawl Stars offers several game modes, each introducing a different set of rules. In Smash & Grab, two 3-player teams fight each other with the objective of capturing the crystals that are growing in the center of the map. In Heist, two teams face each other and, in turns, defend a safe or try to rob it. The third mode – Battle Royale – allows up to 10 players to fight until there is only one character left alive. The last of the game modes is Bounty, in which one acquires stars for eliminating their foes and loses them each time their character dies.

Online action game representing the popular Multiplayer Online Battle Arena genre; developed by Blizzard Entertainment, initially as a mod for the cult RTS StarCraft II. The title takes us to a fantastic world of Nexus, where the best-selling Blizzard universes of Diablo, StarCraft, and WarCraft come together. In this world, we participate in online battles between teams of several people assuming the roles of well-known characters from the abovementioned games. Each of them falls under one of four classes – assassin, warrior, specialist, or support – and is characterized by their own set of unique skills. The teamwork is the key to victory. The 20-minute long duels taking place on different arenas have one goal: to take over the opponent’s base and not let them do the same with ours. The authors emphasize the user-friendliness of gameplay and control system, making the game accessible even for inexperienced players.

A fantasy MOBA game (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) that combines elements of real-time strategy, action RPG, and action adventure game. This title was produced by Valve Software as a follow up to the popular Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos modification, Defense of the Ancients. Just like the original mod, Dota 2 focuses on clashes of two teams made up of up to 5 people, each one controlling one hero. The key to victory is the proper usage of the unique abilities of the heroes and cooperation. When it comes to technical aspects, the game is powered by the popular Source engine, the technology capable of hitting the sweet spot between visual quality and relatively low system requirements.

An online battle game that combines the features of MOBA and action genres. Battlerite was developed by Swedish studio Stunlock, the creators of Bloodline Champions and Dead Island: Epidemic. The game is focused on fast, intensive battles of two small teams of players. Each participant controls one character selected from a roster of unique warriors. During the game the protagonists are gaining experience and unlock new abilities. In contrast to classic MOBA games like Dota, Battlerite lacks any bases, towers or allied units controlled by artificial intelligence. Instead of that, the title provides open arenas on which the gameplay is focused only on PvP gameplay. The game itself offers an action-focused combat system. The action is presented from a top-down perspective and the mechanics are inspired by shooters and other action games. The crowd present on the arenas is an interesting addition – gaining its favor provides various rewards.

A mobile MOBA developed by an in-house developer studio of Tencent Games. Strike of Kings is a recreation of League of Legends, recreating all the mechanics and assets offered in the aforementioned game. The players are split into two teams (1v1, 3v3, or 5v5 matches) in which each player controls a single hero, equipped with a set of unique skills and abilities. Both teams are tasked with destroying the base of the opposing side, guarded by turrets and AI-controlled units, which requires cooperation and a skillful use of the available abilities. The game uses a free-to-play model with optional microtransactions.

An online science fiction strategy game by Sparkypants Studios, combining elements of a classical RTS with elements of modern MOBA productions. The action of Dropzone is set in times when humanity’s future is dependent on the mysterious energy source called the Core, and the only place where it can be found is Europa, one of the Jupiter’s moons. The problem is that the place is also a target for the alien race of Kavash. While playing, we control powerful battle mechs and our goal is to defeat the aliens as well as gather the necessary energy. The gameplay is similar to that of classic RTS productions but the developers completely dropped the base building element, focusing solely on tactical battles between two three-member teams. Skirmishes take place on small maps and usually last about 15 minutes. Both teams have to defeat their opponents and take control of the Core located in the middle of the map.

The story takes us to a world where heroes from five different factions battle in 5-man teams for the last star in the universe. It is worth noting that the game provides a vast gallery of characters to choose from, among which we will find such as an elven archer, a Japanese samurai, or a heavily-armed space marine. As we progress through the game, our heroes will reach higher levels of experience, allowing them to increase their statistics and the effectiveness of their skills. The games can take the form of either classic MOBA team PvP fights or a dedicated co-op campaign for 5 players, for which an expansive storyline has been prepared.

A hybrid MMO game combining PvP duels typical for MOBA titles with an extensive, story-based PvE component; it was created by NCSoft - an experienced, Korean developer. The game is set in a universe that mingles together elements of NCSoft's earlier games, and the player can explore various colorful sceneries. Both popular and completely new characters were included - each has their different active and passive abilities. The player can switch between two different characters during PvP fights (including modes such as Team Deathmatch, Point Control or Ruins of the Titans). What is innovative about Master X Master, is the introduction of an additional yet full-fledged PvE component based on missions differing in difficulty level and set in one of 25 locations. All of this is complemented by a recreational mode, which is a rare occurrence in MMO games. In this mode, the player can enjoy three arcade mini-games, including Laser Dodging, Bullet Mode and Racing.

The battles take place on simple maps with no alternative paths, and last three minutes; the key to victory is assembling an appropriate team, whose members can support each other with their abilities. Dungeon Hunter Champions is an action RPG based on the free-to-play business model with optional microtransactions. The game has been both developed and published by Gameloft, but it's somewhat different from the previous installments - during the campaign the player has to wage arcade battles against hordes of enemies, but this time around, they get to control an entire team comprising several from a couple hundred available characters. Simultaneously, one can control only one warrior; however, the other characters can be given simple commands. At any given moment, one can switch between the characters. Apart from gathering the heroes, the player has to develop their skills and equipment. Dungeon Hunter Champions features a horde mode, in which the player has to fight off consecutive waves of increasingly powerful foes. Moreover, the game offers a multiplayer mode, which follows the MOBA convention. In the online battles, two five-player teams compete against each other; each player controls a single champion with a task to destroy the enemy base.

In contrast to the first game, this one is based on the free-to-play business model, and offers two entirely different multiplayer modes. The first one is a traditional co-op, in which players of different skills and specializations join forces against waves of enemies of increasing difficulty. The other one is heavily inspired by MOBA games and focuses on competitive combat of two 5-person teams. Each team is tasked with destroying opponent’s turrets. The game introduces numerous technical upgrades, as well as new heroes and opponents. Both play modes share the same characters roster, and individual dungeons are connected by a common mini-world on the surface, where up to 24 players can be at the same time.

Just like in every MOBA game, gameplay in Infinite Crisis focuses on battles between two teams of players. We can play as our favorite super heroes and villains (Batman, Flash, Catwoman, Joker, Poison Ivy, Wonder Woman, and many others). Each playable character has their own unique set of skills. Gameplay in Infinite Crisis enriched by the random cataclysms that can change the appearance of maps and force the players to change their tactics. Battle Battalions (previously known as Victory or Victory Command) was designed by Petroglyph, an experienced developer, formerly a part of the legendary Westwood Studios (known for the Command & Conquer series). The game is set in modern day, although it does not refer to any actual armed conflicts. The game focuses on clashes of two 5-player teams, in which everyone commands a selected battalion of several types: infantry, recon vehicles, or tanks. Each of these is further split into several subgroups possessing unique characteristics. The main focus of gameplay lies in the dynamic, spectacular battles that last no more than 10 minutes. Despite that, the gameplay features significant tactical depth, requiring strategic thinking and cooperation between team members, as well as proper usa of the potential of individual battalions.

A multiplayer game with MOBA elements from the Finnish Supercell studio, set in a universe of one of the mobile bestsellers – Clash of Clans. Same as there, we play as a ruler whose ambitions go beyond the borders of his country. Gameplay of Clash of Royale comes down to taking part in online skirmishes with other players to overthrow the opposing king. Battles are fought in very simplified form and take place on small arenas, which fit entirely on the smartphone’s or tablet’s screen. During the battles, we send offensive units along set paths, while also making sure to secure our own domain with various spells and defensive units and buildings. The mechanics are complemented by card game features, and the time between fights is spent on collecting the strongest possible deck of cards, each representing the respective units and actions (e.g. casting spells).

A representative of the MOBA genre, created by Phantom Compass - an independent developer. Among other MOBA titles, the game stands out both with its single player story campaign and an artistically original game world. The players are taken to post-apocalyptic United States ruled by motorized gangs. Assuming the role of such a group's member, the player gains access to an extensive system of car modifications, allowing them to work on the chassis, body, armor or weaponry of their vehicle. The multiplayer component is the core of the game, and this is based on two teams fighting one another to destroy the enemy's base. Apart from that, the game features a traditional PvP mode; significantly, duels can be played both online and in the split-screen mode. The in-game story campaign is an interesting component - the player gets acquainted with a conflict between two gangs ruled by Valentina Vega and a person known as Dark Jaw. The game makes references to science-fiction movies from the 1980s, which is intensified by simplistic, cartoonish visuals representing retro-futuristic art style.

Multiplayer shooter in MOBA convention. It is the first title of the independent developer Nuke Cockroach studio and is distributed in free-to-play model with microtransactions. Veterans uses isometric view and focuses on online PvP battles of teams or individual players. We take control of the titular veterans and fight on 30 different battlefields using a vast array of weaponry, various combat vehicles and useful gadgets. The game offers many customization options, and as we progress through the game we can modify not only the character's statistics, but use more powerful weapons and special abilities. It also has a matchmaking system that assembles players and teams based on their rank. All of this is presented in good looking, cartoonish visuals and accompanied by dynamic rock soundtrack.

Crush Online is an MMO developed by Korean studio JoyImpact. The game is focused on dynamic PvP duels, evoking games such as League of Legends or Dota 2. Crush Online is set in a fantastic world of Gaia, inhabited by three factions fighting for influence. At the beginning of the game, players choose one of these and create their avatar, which will then be developed throughout the game. The recipe of the duels is similar to most popular MOBA games; some NPCs help the player during battles as they divert enemies from attacking player’s defense towers. A curious addition to the gameplay is the fact that the gameworld exists permanently, in the sense that – contrary to other games – it constantly changes even after a match ends. As in any respectable MMO, here we can join guilds, forge alliances and take part in battles for control over a given territory. The award for this are different kinds of loot and powerful character upgrades.

A fantasy MOBA game developed by the co-creator of the original Just Cause, among other people. The gameplay follows the typical rules of the genre and focuses on competition of two 3-player teams. The title emphasizes mainly the dynamic gameplay. There are 3 character classes for the players to choose from: night, day, and hybrid - each possessing different abilities. Moreover, during matches, we can summon various creatures to help us in combat. The offensive capabilities of the heroes are also influenced by the equipment we select. Our gear wears off in battle and does not regenerate on its own; however, it can be repaired and modified via the crafting system. Each battle ends with a boss fight that yields unique awards, if won. It is also worth pointing out that the game offers a myriad of map configuration options and lets the players decide the appearance of their avatars and the amount of additional quests. The title is free-to-play.

A MOBA game set in the world of Warhammer 40,000, developed by Canadian studio Whitebox Interactive. The story of Warhammer 40,000: Dark Nexus Arena takes us to a futuristic universe, specifically to the grim town of Commoragh – the biggest metropolis of the cruel Dark Eldar race. We control an abducted warrior, forced to take part in brutal fights for life and death, similarly to gladiators in ancient Rome. Skirmishes take place on closed arenas, where two teams clash using wide variety of guns. The game let us choose fighters from every known race of the 41st millennium, and they must cooperate and use their skills properly to succeed. There are also some RPG features in the game, allowing us to develop characters’ skills.
