Miss Cat Personalization in Stray? Fortunately, There Are Mods

With PC mods, players can change the fur color of Stray's cat protagonist, add cosmetic elements, and even look at the world through its eyes.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  1. There are modifications available on Nexus Mods that change the appearance of Stray's protagonist to a Siamese cat or a dog, among others.
  2. Thanks to them, PC users of the title can also check out how the game would look like in a first-person perspective, as well as change the graphics to a more realistic one.

The character creator in games can keep users occupied for a long time, as anyone who has worked up a sweat designing their own V in Cyberpunk 2077 or the perfect Khajiit in Skyrim knows. It would probably be no different in the case of the best-selling title Stray, if the developers from Blue Twelve had provided for such a possibility. However, such idea dawned on modders, thanks to which we can easily swap the red-haired protagonist for a Siamese cat or... a dog.

Cat personalization in Stray possible thanks to mods

"I'd like to play as my cat," thought probably many a feline lover, who let themselves be drawn into the world created by Blue Twelve. However, PC users can use modifications available on Nexus Mods, which enable us to change the main character's fur coat.

At the moment, there are many variants of the protagonist, including the color of fur, whiskers or eyes. Thus, we will come across a classic black cat, an imitation of Garfield, the aforementioned Siamese cat, and even a heckin' pupper.

Personalization can also include minor cosmetic changes, such as adding a gazebo hat, glasses or an eye patch (for example, if you wanted to turn the hero into a tough guy straight from the Metal Gear Solid series). On the other hand, if you feel up to it, you can also try to modify ready-made elements to create a unique character.

Stray - other modifications worth noting

Nexus Mods is dominated at the moment by materials focused on changing the appearance of our feline avatar, but among them you can also find some interesting or fun modifications.

Worth noting is Stray - First Person, which, in keeping with its title, enables us to explore the game world from a first-person perspective. On the other hand, lovers of more realistic graphics can reach for, among others. Photorealistic Preset v1.0. As a curiosity it is also worth mentioning a mod that enable us to play the game in in cooperation on split screen. However, before you become overly optimistic, I'd like to add that it is not very polished - running it can lead to bugs, about which its author informs at the outset.

Stray has also lived to see more humorous mods. One of them enablesyou to replace the "meow" button... shouting Jason's name. This is a reference to Heavy Rain, in which we pressed the "X" button on the pad while searching for the main character's son (the famous "press X to Jason"). In the Nexus Mods folder you will also find a modification that changes the cat sounds to the sound of.... farts.

When installing the aforementioned mods, we recommend reading the instructions available on Nexus Mods, as they can be more complicated than for cosmetic changes.

We remind you that Stray debuted on July 19 of this year on PC, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
