Elden Ring Tops on Steam and Collects Inreasingly Better Ratings

Elden Ring was Steam's biggest bestseller last week, taking up to four spots in the top five. The game's reception among the website's users is also improving.

Like every Monday a list of the biggest (by revenue) bestsellers of the previous week on Steam was released. The list was completely dominated by a newcomer in the form of Elden Ring. The latest game by fromSoftware took as many as four spots in the top 10, including the first one.

  1. Elden Ring - game guide

Elden Ring dominates on Steam

This shape of the list is due to the specifics of Steam. The website classifies not only special editions of a given game (in this case Deluxe editions), but also distinguishes each available purchase option of the game as independent items.

Elden Ring's excellent activity scores

Elden Ring not only sells superbly, but also achieves impressive activity results. Yesterday a new record was set - at the hottest moment of Sunday the game was played on Steam by 891,638 concurrent users.

For comparison, the activity record of Dark Souls III is 129,975 users, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice - 125,315.

Elden Ring's reception on Steam is clearly improving

Activity and sales results are not the only reasons to be happy for the devs. The reception of the game on Steam is also clearly improving.

Elden Ring debuted with a number of technical issues, resulting in only 59% positive user ratings on Steam shortly after release, which is categorized as a "mixed reception".

Since then, the devs have released several small updates, and fans have created mods to fix some of the flaws and have found ways to to minimize other issues. Most likely, many players have also simply delved into the world of Elden Ring so much that technical problems are no longer the most important thing for them. As a result, user reviews have clearly improved - at the time of writing, 73% of them praise the game, which changed the reception category from "mixed" to "mostly positive".

Successful debut of Destiny 2: The Witch Queen

FromSoftware's new game has outclassed the competition on Steam, but it was not the only big release of the past week. The Destiny 2: The Witch Queen DLC also recorded a very good debut. The deluxe edition of this expansion was the only release other than Elden Ring in the top five of the Steam bestseller list.

The expansion also received a warm reception on Steam where 86% of user ratings praise this project, which is categorized as "very positive reception". In the case of the previous DLC, i.e. Beyond Light, it is only 51%.
