Microsoft to Release at Least 5 Games by Mid-2023

Microsoft has stated that it wants to release at least five Xbox and PC exclusive titles in the next fiscal year. What games might those be - not counting Starfield?

Summer Game Fest is just around the corner, and a few days after it, we're looking forward to the two-part Xbox & Bethesda Showcase. In preparation for the event, Microsoft has issued a press release, which shows that the company intends release at least five titles exclusive to Xbox and PC consoles in fiscal 2022 (that is, between July 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023).

Microsoft exclusives

The number is due to the fact that the company wants to match or beat the fiscal year 2021 result. It was the year when it released Age of Empires IV, Microsoft Flight Simulator (the XSX/S edition), Psychonauts 2, Halo Infinite and Forza Horizon 5.

What titles await us in the near future? Almost certainly we will get delayed Starfield and Redfall. Additionally we can expect Avowed, the eighth Forza Motorsport and/or the full version of Grounded. The remaining items are a bit harder to bet. Unannounced Gears 6? Mysterious Project Belfry from the creators of The Banner Saga? Who knows. For the new Fable or The Elder Scrolls VI is not something to count on.

Emphasis on the cloud

Some doubts should be dispelled during Sunday's Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase. Importantly, all of the above games are (or will be) also available in the cloud, the development of which Microsoft emphasizes. As a result, a dedicated version of the Xbox app for Samsung TVs will soon be released. We are also to get the ability to run purchased games that are not part of the PC/Xbox Game Pass service in the cloud.
