PlayStation State of Play Summary

Another State of Play is behind us. A number of games were presented, among which we can mention Ghostwire: Tokyo, Forspoken, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Cowabunga Collection or Returnal.

Last night, as previously announced, Sony held another episode of State of Play. The show focused on games coming from Japan, although there was also news about title outside this country. We invite you to our short summary. The entire State of Play presentation can be watched below.

Exoprimal

Everything began with the first presentation of Exoprimal from Capcom. It will be an action game focused on co-op for up to four people, which will take us to the year 2043, in which people dressed in special, mechanical outfits (somewhat reminiscent of Javelins from Anthem) fight various types of dinosaurs. The prehistoric creatures pour out of a mysterious portal that appeared in the sky. The game will debut in 2023 on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

Ghostwire: Tokyo

During State of Play, we also received a new trailer for Ghostwire: Tokyo, which is another game from Tango Gameworks (of Evil Within fame) and Shinji Mikami, the father of the Resident Evil series. We will enter the world full of terrifying creatures from Japanese mythology on March 25th this year. Initially, the title will be available only on PC and PlayStation 5. Later, it will also appear on Xbox Series X/S.

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin

On the occasion of yesterday's State of Play, it was officially announced that Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin has receive a new demo. The game is being developed by Team Ninja (NiOh) and is a spin-off of the iconic jRPG series, inspired by the story known from the first installment of the series. The full version of the game will be released on March 18 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation S4 and PC.

Forspoken

Earlier this week, the world was abuzz with news that the release of Forspoken from Luminous Productions and Square Enix has been pushed back to October 11. To sweeten the disappointment a bit for those who were waiting for this action RPG, its trailer was shown during yesterday's State of Play. Here it is:

Gundam Evolution

Now it's time for a little something for fans of the iconic Gundam franchise. Gundam Evolution is a network shooter that enables us to play in several dynamic modes - Point Capture, Domination and Destruction. Fans of the arcade gameplay model should feel at home in this title. The game is due to debut later this year on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. In the spring, beta tests will take place in the United States and Japan.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Cowabunga Collection

Over the years, the iconic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have seen a number of video games for various platforms such as the NES, Super NES, Sega Genesis and GameBoy. Thirteen of them are included in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Cowabunga Collection bundle, which will debut on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch this spring. The trailer for the collection, revealed during yesterday's State of Play, can be found below.

GigaBash

GigaBash is another multiplayer game that appeared during yesterday's State of Play. The game will offer clashes between powerful monsters in arenas ready for spectacular destruction. The title is heading to PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch and is expected to be released later this year.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure All Star Battle R

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is a brand that has developed a cult following in many circles of manga and anime fans. If you can't get enough of the Joestar family, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure All Star Battle R, the new production starring its members will be released in "early fall" on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch. The game will see you take control of 50 iconic characters and engage in thrilling team-based battles. Here's the trailer from yesterday's State of Play:

Trek to Yomi

Trek to Yomi is a stunning black and white samurai game reminiscent of Akira Kurosawa films. It is being developed by an independent developer Leonard Menchiari, who is being assisted by Polish studio Flying Wild Hog. The game was announced in June last year, and yesterday we received a new trailer. It informs that the title will be released this spring.

Returnal

Returnal from Housemarque is one of the most important PlayStation 5 exclusives in its first months on the market. On March 22nd, it will receive a new update, numbered 3.0. You can read more about it in this news.

The DioField Chronicle

The DioField Chronicle is a new tactical RPG from Square Enix, set in a fantasy world devastated by war. The game will be released this year on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch. Here's a teaser:

Valkyrie Elysium

At the end of State of Play we saw the reveal of Valkyrie Elysium. This is the latest installment of the popular Valkyrie Profile series from Square Enix. The title, scheduled for release this year, should not lack references to Norse mythology (after all, the main character is Valkyrie, trying to save the world) and dynamic combat. The title is coming to PC, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
