Total War: Warhammer 3 Showed the Might of Strategy Games on Steam

Last week on Steam belonged to Total War: Warhammer 3. The game had recorded a much better debut than the previous two installments.

Like every Monday, SteamDB released a list of the biggest (by revenue) bestsellers of the previous week on Valve's platform. The first place was taken by the debuting Total War: Warhammer III.

Impressive Debut of Total War: Warhammer III

Total War: Warhammer III preorders have been appearing in the bestseller list for several weeks now, and after its release the game became the leader of the list.

Total War: Warhammer III is the second best debut in the brand's history

The project not only sells well, but also achieves very impressive activity results. At the hottest moment of the release day Total War: Warhammer III was played by 166,754 people at the same time on Steam. Only Total War: Three Kingdoms can boast a higher record for this brand..

The game's debut was also significantly better than the previous two installments:

Player ratings on Steam are not impressive, but the situation is improving

The game's debut did not go without problems. On Steam, only 62% of user reviews are positive, which is categorized as "mixed reception". This result, however, does not fully reflect the quality of the latest work of Creative Assembly. A large number of negative notes was posted by players from China, who did not like the method of promoting the title in their country.

The game's devs can console themselves with the fact that the situation is clearly improving. A day after the release only 46% of reviews on Steam were positive, while now this indicator has jumped to 62%, so the reception is improving.

Last Week's Biggest Steam Hits (by Revenue)

In addition to the success of Total War: Warhammer III it is also worth noting the very good sales of Cyberpunk 2077. This is due to the warmly received patch 1.5 and an attractive promotion, in which the game's price was reduced by 50%.

The fighting game The King of Fighters XV also made a good debut, and its various versions took two places in the top 10 bestsellers on Steam.

Dread Hunger continues to climb

Another interesting issue is the rise in popularity of the online survival game Dread Hunger. The game debuted on January 26 this year and since then it has been getting progressively better activity scores week by week. The record on the launch day was just 5 thousand players playing at the same time, while yesterday it was 37,348.
