Sony and PlayStation Prepare a TV Adaptation of Twisted Metal

The popular racing game series Twisted Metal will be adapted to the small screen thanks to an initiative from Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions. The script for the series will be written by the co-creator of Cobra Kai.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  1. Sony Pictures TV and PlayStation Productions are teaming up for a TV adaptation of Twisted Metal, a racing action game focusing on mass destruction;
  2. It will be an action movie with comedy elements, and the script will be written by Michael Jonathan Smith, the co-creator of Netflix's Cobra Kai.

Hollywood is more and more often focused on video game adaptations. In recent years, such blockbusters as Tomb Raider or Pokemon: Detective Pikachu have enjoyed great popularity. The TV offer looks no worse in this respect. Netflix recently announced a series about Lara Croft, The Last of Us is prepared by HBO, and yesterday Variety reported on a brand new project from Sony Pictures TV and PlayStation Productions called Twisted Metal.

Twisted Metal is a series of frantic racing games based on competition with other players. High speed, tons of weapons and even more explosions - there's no denying that this brand is perfectly suited to be used to create a worthwhile action flick.

Admittedly, we already knew about Sony's interest in such adaptation, but only yesterday we received official confirmation. Apart from many action scenes we can expect a lot of gritty humor, which is not surprising if we look at the names responsible for the series. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, producers of both Deadpool and Zombieland, came up with the concept.

Michael Jonathan Smith, who so far is famous for his work on the set of the hit Netflix series ,Cobra Kai, is responsible for writing and producing Twisted Metal . We don't know when exactly to expect the premiere of the adaptation.
