The Last Guardian: Teach Trico to carry out commands

Squeeze between the bars

You will get into a new, vast part of the ruins. First of all, go right and find the small staircase by the chasm. Across this passage, there is a barrel. Collect it, return to the starting point and toss the Barrel to Trico.

Go left now, for a change. In here, there is a shut gate, but gaps between the bars will allow you to squeeze through it. At the same time, Trico will use an alternative route and will rejoin you.

Test issuing commands on the crate with several barrels in it

Take a look around the new location and wait for the narrator's voice to inform you that new, more advanced commands for Trico have been unlocked. Each time, you have to start by holding down the R1 trigger, and then:

• Lean the analog stick to point Trico to the ledge that he is to take interest in. You can test this command on the crate with several barrels in it.
• Press Triangle, Square, Circle or X. This one is a less useful function and it commands Trico to mimic the boy's actions. For example, if you press Triangle, Trico will jump.

Try some commands on Trico, ordering him to destroy a large chest located in this part of the ruins. It contains four barrels that will be eaten automatically by your companion once he destroys the chest.

Follow the balconies up above to reach the lever (there also is a barrel on a nearby ledge)

Climb onto Trico's back and point him to the balconies up above. Jump onto one of them and start your exploration. Along the upper balconies, you have to return to your starting point in the ruins. Here, you will find a lever that opens the grate below.

Go back down and climb onto Trico. Remain here and turn his attention to the nearby balcony. After you climb onto it, you will find another barrel for him.

Make sure that you have climbed onto Trico and command him towards the destroyed bridge shown in screenshot 1, connecting this part of ruins with another one that used to be inaccessible. After the beast carries out the command, turn left and point Trico to the small, partially damaged stairs shown in screenshot 2. After he gets there, jump over onto them and climb up.

Careful, move close to the wall

During your exploration, remain by the left wall at all times. Soon, you will reach a chasm and you will have to make it over the narrow ledge. Up ahead, grab onto the interactive ledge and reach the small hole in the wall. This way, you will get to a big chamber where you encounter rotating guards for the first time.
