Far Cry 5: How do I install weapons upgrades?

Far Cry 5 enables you to install various modifications (upgrades) on your weapons, although the mechanics behind it are not easy to understand. You can't modify your weapon anywhere in the game world, and you can't get upgrades for free. The description below contains all the essential information on the subject.

In order to upgrade your weaponry, you must visit one of the shops in the game world (pistol icon on the map). A shop is located in every major location. For example, you can visit the town of Fall's End in the Holland Valley (after dealing with the cultists that occupy it).

When you reach the shop, select the weapon tab and search the list for the weapon you want to upgrade. In our example, shown in the screenshot above, it'll be the AR-C rifle.

Press the weapon modification button (X on PS4 and A on Xbox One) and the game will open the upgrade window. Scroll down because at the top of the list you'll find only worthless weapon skins. The good stuff, the actual upgrades, is found at the bottom of the list. For the assault rifle, in our example, you can choose between different scopes, silencers and weapon magazines.

The list of offered upgrades varies depending on the weapon. You also need to purchase each upgrade before you can install it. Luckily, after you have made your purchase you can put on and remove the upgrade as many times as you like, at no extra cost.
