Man's Best Friend is one of the quests in Holland Valley in Far Cry 5. The mission allows you to gain a new ally (companion): Boomer, the dog. It's a good idea to engage in this mission right after finishing the prologue to Far Cry 5. Boomer is the simplest companion to recruit, and so you can be getting his help from the very beginning. The details about recruiting him are below.
Reach the Rae-Rae farm
Reach the Rae-Rae's Pumpkin Farm. It's one of the locations that are visible from the very beginning on the map of the Holland Valley. You will find it in the northwest part of the region. After reaching the farm, you will notice some cultists in there. Eliminate them, but don't let them raise the alarm, or you will have to repel the reinforcements.
Getting Boomer into your team
After clearing the farm - or at least most of it - look for the cage shown above. Boomer, the dog is trapped there. Open the cage and pet the animal - Boomer will permanently join your team as a special (you can choose the active member of your party in the recruited specialists and warriors tab). The mission ends once you get rid of all the cultists on the farm - Boomer will help you find them.
