Far Cry 5: Why was I captured by the cultists?
Last update:
During your Far Cry 5 playthrough, there's a good chance you'll get captured by the members of at Eden's Gate Project and transported to one of their outposts. Being captured is not a result of an error on your part. It's a predetermined event designed within the main quest line. You don't have to reload the game or try to avoid getting captured at all cost. It's just part of the game. Below, you can find more info about that.
When can I be captured by the cultists?

During the process of securing each of the three regions of the world in Far Cry 5, your avatar will be captured a number of times by the members of the Seed family. This is most likely to happen after you've reached another level in your fight against the cult in each region (i.e. when you've obtained the given number of resistance points). Each region has three such levels.
If you inflict a lot of damage to the cult cell of the given region, you will get a few warnings (such as the one on the screen above). That means the cultists' are hunting for the protagonist.
What s getting captured like?

During one of your encounters with the cultists (it can be any random event), you can get hit by a poisoned bullet, which will knock you cold. After a while, a new quest will begin. Depending on the mission you unlock, you can be, for example, forced to take part in a sadistic game for survival, or perform a daring escape with the help of your allies. After you escape, everything's back to normal.
Note that getting captured never means the irreversible loss of money, items or weapons. You will only loose access to a few elements of your equipment during your escape mission. These items will automatically return to your inventory after the mission. Alternatively, you can also try and reclaim them at any arms dealer.
