Action of Golden Axe takes place in a land of Yuri, invaded by a barbarian named Death Adder, who kidnapped the king and his daughter, wanting to take possession of the legendary golden axe. Three heroes arise to fight him: a barbarian, a dwarf, and an amazon, each of them specializing in a different type of weapon. During the game we continually move to the right side of the screen, traversing subsequent levels and confronting scores of enemies, as well as powerful bosses. Apart from wielding weapons, the game also allows us to mount dragons, and in the most critical moments, use magic, the power of which increases as we collect special mana potions. The game can be played with another person, offering a co-op adventure mode or classic one on one duels (with another hero or with subsequent enemies).

An unusual spin-off to the legendary Tomb Raider series. The game was developed by Crystal Dynamics - the creators of the franchise's latest installments. The game follows the adventures of a beautiful female archeologist and her friend - a Mayan warrior by the name of Totec. The characters set out for a journey, searching for a mysterious artifact known as Mirror of Smoke, which is to be used against the evil Xolotl, who has gained the power to control other spirits. Contrary to the third-person perspective the Tomb Raider games are usually played in, the spin-off is an isometric game resembling hack'n'slash titles in this aspect. The gameplay focuses on arcade elements and combat sequences, in which the player encounters hordes of ghosts - a special emphasis was placed on cooperation. The two characters have different abilities, therefore, close cooperation is the key to success. However, it is also worth mentioning that the game features elements which could be considered hallmarks of the Tomb Raider series as well, such as exploration of tombs and catacombs.

The gameplay is faithful to the roots of the series – BlazBlue: Central Fiction focuses on duels fought in two-dimensional environment. A special version of Distortion Drive called Exceed Accel is a novelty in the series – it allows the character to deal enormous damage. There is also the Active Flow mechanism that activates when a player plays very aggressively – it provides stronger attacks and faster Burst regeneration. Arcade Mode and Multiplayer are the main modes of the game and they are accompanied by Speedstar Mode (the objective is to defeat a specific number of opponents in limited time) and Alliance Mode (team battles in which the defeated opponents can join player’s team).

It is the fourth full-fledged installment of the series developed by studio Yuke in cooperation with Visual Concepts under the watchful eye of 2K Games. WWE 2K17 expands the mechanics used in the previous entry in the franchise. The developers decided to recreate the fights between real wrestlers from WWE and NXT federations in as realistic way as possible. Among the playable characters there are both real stars and promising beginners. Traditionally, there are also a few legends of this popular sport that once were triumphant on the wrestling arenas. As for the mechanics, the title offers even more realistic combat system that enables the player not only to deal hits, but to knock an opponent over, throw him or use various objects during the fights as well.

The story of Dynasty Warriors 9 is loosely based on the novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms that describes the Chinese civil war that occurred during the 2nd and 3rd century. The player can choose from a few dozen of varied characters, some of which are well known from the previous entries in the series. The rest are completely new characters or ones from other games from this developer. The gameplay focuses on real-time battles with hundreds of participants. The title was released as part of the 15th anniversary of the series and it introduces some important novelties to the saga, including a modified combat system and a large open world that contains the entirety of China. The key to victory lies in proper usage of available weapons and special abilities of various characters and in taking advantage of the topography of the battlefields.

Another incarnation of a minimalistic real-time strategy with RPG elements, developed by an independent studio called noio. Like in the original Kingdom for PC Windows and mobile devices, in Kingdom: Two Crowns, the player assumes the role of a king tasked with taking care of his loyal subjects and providing for them. Unlike the original release, in Kingdom: Two Crowns the player can enjoy both single player and cooperative game modes. During the game, one observes the action from the side perspective. Gameplay revolves around two main aspects – the first one being exploration (during which one can acquire gold they can give to the encountered settlers), while the second one focuses on expanding the settlement by erecting production buildings, creating tools for the settlers, and building diverse fortifications, which prove useful after dusk. During the night, one’s domain is attacked by vicious trolls and the player has to pay careful attention to their crown, because when it falls into enemy hands, the game is over. Luckily, the player can unlock numerous perks on their adventures to stand a better chance against the increasingly powerful foes. The game features simple, yet pleasing pixel-art visuals.

What is also an inherent part of the experience, is the necessity to recruit armies and fight turn-based battles against various kinds of enemies. Compared to the franchise's previous iterations, the game introduces new heroes, new kinds of towns, and 118 types of units having new abilities and 64 spells at their disposal; the spells were divided into 4 schools of magic. The in-game maps have become larger and more detailed. Also, graphics, animations and multiplayer variants were improved.
