A 2.5D fighting game developed by the independent developer Digital Crafter. Fight of Gods resembles other fighting games such as Capcom's Street Fighter IV, so the character models are 3D, and the battles are set in two-dimensional environments. Each fighter features a unique set of moves and special attacks, which have to be learned by heart and used to chain spectacular combos to efficiently fight both AI and other players. The main aspect that makes the game different from other fighter games is its main theme. In the game, the player gets to control not regular heroes but gods. This includes e.g. Jesus Christ, Buddha, Zeus, and Odin. The game delivers several modes, one of which is the tutorial allowing the player to familiarize themselves with the abilities features by the character they have chosen. Moreover, one can fight the AI-controlled opponents in the single player mode and face other players in the local multiplayer mode.

Another installment in the popular series of fighting games developed by Arc System Works. The story was divided into three chapters and it tells about the further adventures of characters known from the previous entries in the series. There are also new characters like Hibiki Kohaku, Naoto Kurogane and Hades Izanami. The gameplay is faithful to the roots of the series – BlazBlue: Central Fiction focuses on duels fought in two-dimensional environment. A special version of Distortion Drive called Exceed Accel is a novelty in the series – it allows the character to deal enormous damage. There is also the Active Flow mechanism that activates when a player plays very aggressively – it provides stronger attacks and faster Burst regeneration. Arcade Mode and Multiplayer are the main modes of the game and they are accompanied by Speedstar Mode (the objective is to defeat a specific number of opponents in limited time) and Alliance Mode (team battles in which the defeated opponents can join player’s team).

The fourteenth installment in the legendary Japanese series of fighting games started in 1994 on Neo Geo console and arcade cabinets. In contrast to the majority of other installments in the franchise, famous for very detailed 2D graphics, The King of Fighters XIV offers fully three-dimensional arenas. This greatly impacts the gameplay, making it more similar to the Tekken or Dead or Alive series. The King of Fighters IV is the first installment in the series to be released on PlayStation 4. In the game, the players assume the role of a warrior of their choosing and fight against opponent controlled by either another player or by the AI. The game offers a wide choice of playable characters. Some of them return from previous entries in The King of Fighters series, but their fighting style was adapted to new gameplay mechanics that uses three-dimensional environment. The game itself focuses on performing attacks and combining them into combos while avoiding enemy blows. In addition to the singleplayer modes, among which there are arcade and training mode, King of Fighters XIV also contains advanced multiplayer options.

Shadow Fight 3 is a 2.5D fighting game, which means that while the graphics were made in full 3D, the gameplay mechanics are 2D. The three-dimensional locations and characters are the main difference between this game and the previous installments in the series. The production utilizes a free-to-play model with microtransactions. The game is set in a fantasy world inspired by Asian legends and features warriors, who can use superhuman powers. The gameplay consists of one-on-one duels in a gesture-based combat system. Those classic fighting game rules have been expanded by adding some role-playing elements. You create your character, which can be further developed thanks to a skill tree, allowing you to unlock new techniques and attacks. The production features a single player mode and a multiplayer mode; the latter allows you to fight other players or join them in the co-op mode, in which you battle the AI.

After a few years of silence, here comes yet another installment in the popular fighting series Guilty Gear developed by Arc System Works. The game’s biggest feature is the use of Unreal Engine which supports 1080p, along with 3D backgrounds and 3D character models. The latter, implemented as a modified cel-shading style, strongly resembles original, two-dimensional sprites. Mechanically, not much has changed; it is still a classic fighting title with a dynamic and difficult-to-master combat system based on combos and special attacks (which drain a special bar). Each of the 17 warriors has a different style concerning both looks and moves. The campaign tells the stories of the heroes, but nothing stops you from enjoying only e.g. arcade or multiplayer battles.
