The third installment in the series of fighting games started in the nineties. The game was developed by Double Helix Games, creators of Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters and MX vs. ATV Reflex. In Killer Instinct the player assumes the role of a warrior of his choosing and fights against computer opponents or human rivals (cross-platform playing is supported). Among the characters one can find many interesting individuals – including ones well known from previous entries in the series (for example Thunder, Jago, Sabrewulf and Glacius). Each character has unique abilities and combat tactics. The rivals are facing each other on two-dimensional arenas with hand-drawn backgrounds. The battles itself are arcade and very dynamic – the players can perform many attack combinations, blocks, and special attacks. Rich social features are an interesting addition. Killer Instinct offers 2,5D graphics and uses cel-shading technology thanks to which the characters and locations have a comic book-like look.

The game features dozens of fighters from different epochs and genres – knights, pirates, and even aliens. Each character has a different story and fighting style. Another installment in a series of popular arcade fighting games developed by Team Ninja. It is the first installment to be released on Xbox 360. Apart from the new characters, the game offers various fighters from previous installments, such as Ryu Hayabusa or Kasumi. When it comes to the mechanics, it is an old-school fighting game - two opponents face each other in a fight which lasts until one of them is defeated. Counter-attack mechanics were improved in this installment in order to maintain a healthy balance between attack and defense. Fighting takes place on multi-leveled arenas filled with destructible objects and surprises, such as cars passing by, which can be used against the opponent. The game offers an extensive online component, featuring clans and international tournaments. Additionally, both the graphics and character physics were improved.
