BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle is a classic representative of the fighting games genre. It was developed by Arc System Works. The game is a 2.5D fighting game – it means that gameplay mechanics are fully two-dimensional despite the fact that locations are made in 3D. Tag system is the heart of the game. The player chooses two characters before the battle. They can control only one of them simultaneously but can also switch between them during the fight. Each of the fighters has a separate health bar. The title features a large variety of characters, including ones from games BlazBlue, Persona 4 Arena, Under Night in-Birth and the animated series RWBY. All characters feature unique fighting styles with various special attacks and combos. Developers introduced a few single player modes, but the multiplayer is most enjoyable part of the game – it can be played on a single screen or via Internet.

Another installment in the popular series of fighting games developed by Arc System Works. The story was divided into three chapters and it tells about the further adventures of characters known from the previous entries in the series. There are also new characters like Hibiki Kohaku, Naoto Kurogane and Hades Izanami. The gameplay is faithful to the roots of the series – BlazBlue: Central Fiction focuses on duels fought in two-dimensional environment. A special version of Distortion Drive called Exceed Accel is a novelty in the series – it allows the character to deal enormous damage. There is also the Active Flow mechanism that activates when a player plays very aggressively – it provides stronger attacks and faster Burst regeneration. Arcade Mode and Multiplayer are the main modes of the game and they are accompanied by Speedstar Mode (the objective is to defeat a specific number of opponents in limited time) and Alliance Mode (team battles in which the defeated opponents can join player’s team).

Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers is a remastered version of the second game from the popular fighting game series, initially released in 1991. It was developed by Capcom and UDON Entertainment. The new edition has received a series of improvements and tweaks. There are two completely new playable characters available: Evil Ryu and Violent Ken. Each of the available fighters has their own story and set of moves, attacks, and combos. The game's visuals were also improved. All textures are now in high resolution, but we can still switch back to the retro-stylized pixel-art visuals if we want to. Though some things were changed and improved, the core of gameplay remains the same. The Versus mode allows us to fight with other players or against A.I. Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers also offers a special game mode where two players face the same A.I. controlled enemy.

The gameplay mechanics consist of duels one on one, in which the players are using an action-based combat system that enables them to move through the arena and use variety of techniques. Collecting characters is the key aspect of the game. There are more than one hundred warriors to be obtained. Each of them has unique special attacks that the player must first unlock and then upgrade with experience points. The title features story mode, in which the player faces artificial intelligence and multiplayer mode which enables the player to face other players via Internet and to participate in faction wars. Additionally, the players can upload their replays that are used for teaching AI new tactics.

Yatagarasu: Attack on Cataclysm greatly expands the original campaign for single player, adding many new plot threads. Game mechanics were also improved, with several new heroes – each with his or her unique fighting style – and more abilities for existing characters. The same goes for the visuals, which still give an old school vibe while offers higher resolutions.

The players once again participate in spectacular duels, assuming the roles of characters known from the animated original. The newest addition to the series is a rebuilt single player mode, called “Dragon World”, where the protagonists travel around the map in search for the titular Dragon Balls. Along the way, they encounter various enemies that are battled on different arenas. Additionally, Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 2 contains Duel and World Tournament modes – the former allows the player to choose his opponent and leaves him the choice of the arena, while the latter introduces a series of encounters that are played as a tournament. It should be mentioned that we can either go solo, competing with the AI, or invite another player. The cel-shaded visuals are undoubtedly a mainstay of the game, paying tribute to the works of the legendary mangaka. The game introduces the ability to import your character from the previous installment.
