The player arrives in a fantasy world which is facing the spectre of destruction. In order to ward off the danger, the princess performs a ritual that would summon a true hero from another dimension. However, something goes wrong, and the world is visited by a number of heroes who join the opposing, power-hungry parties.

The game enables the players to control characters known from the main installments of the Final Fantasy series. The title is an improved and expanded port of a game that debuted in 2015 on Japanese arcade cabinets. Dissidia Final Fantasy NT doesn’t feature a dedicated, complex story mode, but the duels have a narrative, illustrated with cutscenes and dialogues.
