In the game we play as a young warrior Ryu Hayabusa from the Dragon Ninja clan who comes to the United States to avenge the death of his murdered father. In order to complete his mission, the protagonist must also retrieve a mysterious and powerful sword which is now in the possession of the enemy.

In the game, we assume the role of the eponymous warrior named Ryu who seeks revenge on the mysterious organization called Vigoor Empire and its leader, the man responsible for murdering the protagonist’s clan and stealing the magical sword Ryuken.
