This is Atreus' new quest, in which the boy will suddenly find himself in Midgard after an argument with his father. You'll encounter first opponents right away and your best bet is to stay at a distance.
Right after passing a fallen tree, you'll have to face a Wight. Detailed instructions on how to deal with this type of opponent can be found on a separate page (How to defeat Wights?) in the FAQ section. Short instructions below.
How to defeat Wights?
- attack with standard arrows, as runic arrows can be deflected;
- interrupt blue attacks by attacking with your bow (2xL1 after getting close to the monster);
- dodge ranged attacks fired by the Wight;
- Once the Wight is taken care of, finish up the Wisps with special arrows.
Investigate Freya's abandoned house
Along the way, you'll face more standard opponents and will have to walk on a narrow edge. You will reach Sanctuary Grove.
Approach Chaurli, a huge creature blocking access to Freya's home. Start by examining the shutter. After receiving a task involving starting a fire, check your journal.
Follow Odin's raven
You'll enter Asgard and begin exploration of the Plains of Ida. Follow the only available path and you'll reach Hrimthur's Wall.
During your trek, you'll encounter small groups of monsters - it is safer to attack them from a distance and you can use Atreus' special attacks. There be more Wisps too - stun them with special arrows and then rely on standard attacks.
A wall of bushes will block your way - unlocking the way forward involves a simple puzzle. Fire Sigil Arrows and place seals next to each other beginning from the fire and ending at the bushes. Correctly placed seals will link and transfer the fire to the bushes, unlocking the way forward.
Continue the trek. Soon, you will meet Skjoldr.
Climb the Wall
You're now before a long climb to the top of Hrimthur's Wall. Rotate the camera and locate the next places Atreus can jump to (by pressing Circle).
On one of the ledges, you'll encounter a Wight and some Wisps. Remember to use the right types of arrows (regular ones to weaken the Wight and special types to stun and destroy Wisps). Due to the small size of the arena, consider using bow attacks to weaken the Wight.
After the area is clear, hit the green object with the sonic arrow - this will lower a chain. Grab it and continue climbing
Atreus must now enter the caves and continue destroying Wisps. Moreover, you need to destroy encountered totems as fast as possible - any attack will do.
You will reach a location with hanging cargo (2 of them), and your task is to destroy 2 hooks that hold the cargo. The first hook is easy to locate. The second one becomes visible as you follow the path laid out by the shelves on the left (screenshot above). You're going to need to use sonic arrows for this task.
Place yourself next to first cargo and interact with the rope, and Atreus will be taken up. Further battles await.
The final part of the climb is all about jumping to the next ledges and moving sideways. Once you reach the summit, you'll encounter Heimdall.
Follow Heimdall and meet Odin
The moving platform will take you to Gladsheim. Hop on the back of the beast ridden by Heimdall.
You will reach The Great Lodge and must prove your skills in battle. Dodge often so that the enemies don't have the chance of placing bifrost status. Use all you have - the bow, melee attacks, and special skills.
You now need to face Heimdall, but this is not a fully-fledged boss encounter. You cannot hit Heimdall, as he knows all your moves in advance. You have to let yourself be hit, and a cut-scene depicting Odin's arrival will be activated.
Follow Odin on his work day
With Odin, you will visit various places and ultimately return to the The Great Lodge. Atreus will be assigned a room.
Take a look in the closet, as there is some new equipment there:
- Aesir Uniform - this is a cosmetic item and a new outfit for Atreus;
- Aesir Bow - lowers ability cooldown times, has to be crafted;
- Runic Recharge accessory.
The closet also serves as a crafting interface, allowing weapon upgrades and buying consumables. You can consider it as an alternative to dwarven shops.
Join the All-Father in his study when ready
You'll meet Thrud when attempting to leave the room. You can go with her to get a tour of the Lodge or go straight to the study door.
Follow Odin to reach The Rift. A new mission - Into The Fire - will begin.
