Cyberpunk 2077 Without Censorship in Australia

CD Projekt RED will not have to censor Cyberpunk 2077 to get an age rating in Australia. The game has been rated for adults only, but changes to its content will not be necessary.

The game is coming this September.

The Australian age rating agency has completed the rating of Cyberpunk 2077, giving it an withR18+ rating . This means a game for adults only, for which sellers can request a proof of identity confirming the age of the buyer.

This news is noteworthy because many games full of brutality and nudity (and this is what CP2077 will be like) have considerable problems with being allowed to be distributed in Australia. Often, as in the case of State of Decay or Saints Row IV, developers are denied an age rating and, as a result, are forced to censor their work in order to get approval from the local rating agency. So it's a good thing that CD Projekt RED won't have to do that, and Australian fans will get the same version of Cyberpunk 2077 as the rest of the world.

The R18+ category was also given to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in Australia. The Witcher 2 had much more problems with the rating. Bandai Namco Entertainment, the publisher of the game, tried to get the MA15+ rating, but was refused because, among other things, in one of the missions, Geralt could choose sex as a reward for completing the quest. The devs had to remove this option and only then the game received MA15+.

Cyberpunk 2077 is coming to PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The launch is scheduled for September 17. Owners of Xbox Series X and users of Google Stadia will also be able to play the title.
