Minecraft Snapshot 20w51a Adds Axolotls

Mojang has released a new snapshot from Cliffs & Caves update for Minecraft. Snapshot 20w51a adds more animals to the game, namely axolotls.

Although we still have a long way toi go before the next huge update for Minecraft, fans of the cubic universe have no reasons to complain. All thanks to the regular releases of so-called snapshots, which enable us to test some of the novelties from Caves & Cliffs Update. Another such build - Snapshot 20w51a - has already hitthe servers. Those willing to test the snapshot can activate it through the game client in the "Installations" section, in which snapshots can be enabled. NOTE: before activating this feature, it is better to back up our world or run the snapshots session from a separate folder - test versions can permanently spoil our works.

Snapshot 20w51a does not add as much news as the previous one. The biggest attraction is the appearance of axolotls in five variants (one of which is rare), creatures that are for some reason particularly fond of tropical fish. Such a delicacy will make the charming amphibian follow the player, although we can also carry it in a bucket of water. Without it, an axolotl cannot stay on land (after five minutes without hydration, the animal starts to dry out, which translates into damage). However, it is worth to take an interest in the amphibian not only as a novelty. If we kill either the creature that attacks is (or is attacked by the axolotl), the axolotl will pay us back by removing the effects of fatigue and give us temporary health regeneration.

We already had zombies, dragons and goats - now it's time for axolotls.

Apart from that, Mojang focused on various technical improvements, mainly related to the content introduced in previous snapshots. For example, the so-called Sculk Sensors - blocks generating a signal in response to vibrations - will no longer react when a player or mob stands on wool or throws it to the ground. The frequency of vibrations caused by specific actions (swimming, walking, shooting and landing of projectiles, etc.) has also been changed. A list of changes in can be found here. Full version of the Caves & Cliffs update will be available next year.
