Netflix Star Wants to Play Ellie In The Last of Us TV Show
The cast of The Last of Us is currently a big unknown. As it turns out, Kaitlyn Dever, the star of Netflix's Unbelievable, is interested in the role of Ellie in the show produced by HBO and Sony.
- Kaitlyn Dever, known from Netflix's Unbelievable, is interested in the role of Ellie in the upcoming TV adaptation of The Last of Us;
- The actress not only loves to play Naughty Dog's game, but also has a great fondness for Neil Druckmann, who was responsible for its script;
- Her choice for the role of Joel Dever is Hugh Jackman.
After HBO, Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Productions announced in early March that The Last of Us would get a TV adaptation, many fans of the franchise decided that actress Kaitlyn Dever would be perfect for the role of Ellie. As it turns out, not only is she a great fan of Naughty Dog , but she also has a great fondness for the screenwriter Neil Druckmann. It is clear from her words that whe would would accept the proposal to play Ellie with open arms.
As Dever said in an interview with the editors of Collider:
"Well, this is the first time I’m being asked about this. Listen, I am a huge fan of the game, and I don’t know if a lot of people know that, but I’m saying it now; I am a huge fan of that video game. I think it is a beautiful story (...) and I fell in love with that game when it came out. (...) I love The Last of Us. (...) I would absolutely love to do that."
As for her opinion about Neil Druckmann, the scriptwriter who is not only responsible for the plot of The Last of Us, but will also co-create the script of the TV show - Dever has nothing but superlatives:
"Neil Druckmann, I worked with him on Uncharted 4. I think he’s one of the smartest guys I’ve ever met, and one of the sweetest."
Dever has also shed some light on her choice of Joel. As it turns out, her tastes coincide with the preferences of many gamer and viewers, as she believes Hugh Jackman would be best suited to the role. Besides, just like Druckmann, his actress is very fond of him because she called him "the nicest guy in the world ".
While Jackman probably doesn't have to be introduced to anyone, it is worth noting that Kaitlyn Dever is a 23-year-old American actress, whose worldwide recognition has been brought by her role Unbelievable (it can be watched on Netflix). Although it's been two months since the announcement of The Last of Us, we still haven't lerned the cast. The only thing that has been revealed is that its production will start after the work on The Last of Us: Part II is finished.
