Resident Evil RE Verse Open Beta Schedule on PC and Consoles

Capcom has announced that we will be able to play the open beta of Resident Evil RE: Verse on PC and consoles in two weeks.

Resident Evil RE: Verse, the multiplayer shooter to accompany Resident Evil Village, will soon receive an open beta. PC (Steam) and console (PS4, PS5, XONE, XSX|S) users interested in the title will gain access to Capcom's new game on April 8. The Japanese devs are to allow early downloads, so it will be possible to start playing even at 11 pm PT, when the open beta starts. To take part in it, we must create a free account on the developer's website. Tests will last three days, and the game will be released on May 7, along with the eighth major installment of the series.

We've known for some time that Capcom was planning a multiplayer mode for the new Resident, which is essentially what RE: Verse is. The rumors were confirmed by Humble Bundle, but the first official news came a little later. It turns out that RE: Verse will be to RE8 what Resident Evil: Resistance was to the RE3 remake - a separate multiplayer mode, not available for purchase as a standalone title.

The gameplay will be a little different - RE: Verse will offer a six-player deathmatch mode in which we take control of iconic characters from the series, including Claire, Leon, Ada, Jill, Hunk and Chris. Each of them is to be given unique skills (active and passive) and different stats, which will affect, for example, the power of used weapons or "survivability".

The goal of each player is to kill the other participants of the game... except that at the moment of death they will turn into monsters known from the previous RE games: Super Tyrant, Nemesis and... ok, that's enough. You'll see for yourself. In any case, the beasts will also have to be killed, and since it's the players who retain control over them - while also gaining new abilities and the ability to transform into increasingly powerful horrors using special capsules - the task will definitely not be too easy.

We must admit that on paper it sounds quite promising. I just wonder if the practice will confirm the theory. Below you can see how it looks more or less (the footage comes from the closed tests of the game, which took place in January). Let us know if you're going to try out this mode before the release of Resident 8. What do you think, will we be given the chance to play as Lady Dimitrescu?
