The second battle against Blue Demon in Rise of the Ronin will take place while completing objectives in Edo. Second meeting with Blue Demon

1. Your first battle against Blue Demon took place during the prologue - we've described this boss battle on Can you defeat the Blue Demon in the prologue? page of our guide. This time, you need to play through the whole battle on your own and additionally win it. Expect a challenging fight.
2. Sometime after arriving in Edo, a new region visited in the final part of Act 1, you'll have to complete the Damsel in Distress story quest, whose main goal is to find and rescue Princess Atsuko.
3. You need to pass an entire location filled with enemies to reach the banner from the screenshot above. Use the banner to save your progress and replenish supplies. After using the grappling hook to bypass the gate, you'll reach an arena where Blue Demon resides.

Breakdown of the encounter

1. Before you start the actual fight, it's worth doing two things. First is that you can score a first safe hit on the demon with, e.g. a rifle. This is because the arena for the encounter is quite spacious and you begin away from the boss. A successful hit will deplete a chunk of the boss's health bar.
2. When the real battle begins, start by trying out different combat styles to check their effectiveness on the Blue Demon. You'll know that you have the right one chosen when there aren't red arrows (these mean that the current fighting style is not effective) next to the boss's health bar.

The battle against Blue Demon is much easier if you use Counterspark - try to find a perfect window for it when the boss launches melee attacks (which often come in the form of a combination of 3 strikes) or stop them using a firearm. This will allow you to quickly fill up the panic bar and perform a critical hit. In the course of the fight, try to perform at least 2 critical hits.
2. Relying solely on dodges may still expose you to attacks, and receiving damage or firing ineffective shots may lead to your supplies being exhausted while still mid-fight. Lack of healing items or firearm ammo can make it very difficult to finish the fight.

1. There are objects in the arena that you can bring closer with the grappling hook and use as weapons . The best opportunity to use them is when the boss is focused on fighting your companions. Otherwise, Blue Demon may escape from the path of the flying object.
2. The Blue Demon himself also uses a grappling rope. Stop his attempts to throw the hook by countersparks or dodges, as otherwise you may receive damage or be caught and pulled toward the boss.

1. Blue Demon's red attacks include charges and attempts to grab the hero when in melee range. The grabbing attempts are very fast and it is best to avoid them.
2. After one of the red attacks , clones of the Blue Demon may appear in the arena . We advise not to disable the camera lock and continue swinging away at the real boss. If necessary, perform a few dodges to get some distance from the clashing heroes and have a better view of the battlefield.
3. Defeating the boss doesn't mean his death. After winning the battle, a cut-scene will play where the Demon uses a moment of opportunity and escapes.
