Rise of the Ronin: How to return to Yokohama?

The events of the story in Rise of the Ronin will lead you away from Yokohama and into the Edo region. This creates a potential problem, as you may have left some activities and secrets uncompleted in Yokohama when you've decided to follow the plot. On this page of our guide, we show how to return to Yokohama and answer whether you can still complete the remaining quests and activities that you left uncompleted after advancing to a new region.

Is there a point of no return in Yokohama?

1. The heroes will leave Yokohama at the end of act 1, during the mission Those Who Know Shoin.
2. You will receive a new mission objective - meet with Ryoma. During the conversation with your companion, you must confirm that you are willing to travel to Edo. Leaving doesn't mean you'll be locked out of Yokohama for the remainder of the game, but it will be some time before you're back in the city.
3. Upon arriving in Edo for the first time, the Those Who Gather at Edo story quest will be initiated. Initially, you won't be able to free roam in this region - we describe the problem in How to unlock free roam in Edo region? page of our guide.

How to use the Testament of the Soul?

1. On the Edo map, you will not find any passages or typical fast travel points to Yokohama. Instead, you need to use Testament of the Soul.
2. Check the world map - there might be a Testament of the Soul marker on it - it has the fast travel option. Interact with the big book.

1. If you don't see the marker, visit the longhouse in Edo (the hero's new hideout). The Testament of the Soul option will appear on the list in the main window of the longhouse.

Testament of the Soul has 2 main uses:

1. Repeating missions - thanks to this, you can, for example, behave differently when making important choices or face a boss again.
2. Returning to regions - go to the last tab. There you will find Yokohama, along with information about the progress in completing this land (side quests, activities, and secrets).

How to get back to Edo or Kyoto?

1. Once you're back in Yokohama you can resume exploring the region. You'll be able to return to interrupted or begin new side quests. You can also take care of all the missing activities and attempt to attain 100% completion of them.
2. If you want to return to the main story (in our case, return to Edo region) press Options. In the System tab, you'll find an option to return to the present time (screenshot above).
