Rise of the Ronin allows you to pet a dog or a cat. These interactions also have practical use. On this guide page, we described, among other things, where to look for cats, when dogs appear, as well as how the Cat Concierge and Pilgrim Dogs mechanics work.

Petting cats and Cat Concierge

1. Cats are treated in the game as one of the types of secrets - the animals are hiding on the world map and by finding them you get closer to completing each region in 100%.
2. When you approach a cat, you should hear it meowing and an additional cat icon will appear on the map. These animals are often in hard-to-reach places, such as on the roof of a building or the top of an observation tower. It's worth waiting until you unlock the glider so you can reach these places more easily.

1. You can usually approach most cats and pick them up right away. However, some cats are shy and you have to sneak up on them - press the left analog stick and approach them from behind. If you scare a cat, you can try again later.
2. In addition to completing the collectible, picking up the cat is rewarded with a silver coin - one of the currencies in the game.

1. After completing the A Pleasure District Portrait main mission, a Cat Collecting marker will appear on the map.
2. Upon reaching the marker you will meet Usugumo - a courtesan who takes care of homeless cats. You will learn from her about the rules of collecting animals. She can also sell you unique items. They have 2 requirements - collecting a certain number of cats and spending silver coins. These can be, for example, items that permanently increase the hero's statistics or rare equipment.

1. Usugumo will also teach you about renting cats for a fee as companions for characters.
2. During your next visit to the longhouse, go to the Relax tab - a new item Cat Concierge will appear in it.

1. A list of orders will appear on the screen - people willing to rent cats. Choose those assignments in which the current statistics of Cat Concierges are higher than the recommended ones. You can also check what rewards you will get.
2. Each task takes a specific amount of time, e.g. 1 hour. In the meantime, you can engage in other in-game activities. You will receive a notification when the Cat Concierge mission ends. Return then to the longhouse. On the welcome screen, all rewards associated with Cat Concierge will have a cat icon.

Petting dogs and Pilgrim Dogs

1. Dogs are not found in the same way as cats. They can appear, for example, during photo shoots, but you can't pet them then.
2. During one of your visits to Yokohama, the first friendly dog will appear in front of the longhouse (the hero's residence). Pet the animal and an NPC will appear, who will explain how so-called Pilgrim Dogs work.

1. You can give the dog coins and he will go on a pilgrimage with them. It lasts a specified time, e.g. 1 hour. In the meantime, deal with other matters.

1. The more coins you give to the dog (up to a maximum of 10,000 in a single action), the better rewards it can bring you - these can be silver coins or rare equipment. You will find out about this on the longhouse welcome screen - all items related to Pilgrim Dogs have a dog icon (example in the picture).
2. While staying in the longhouse, you can send your dog on next pilgrimages. Go to the Relax tab, and a new item Pilgrim Dogs will appear in it. As you progress in the game, you can also find other dogs and establish bonds with them.
