Finding and picking up a magazine

1. Magazines are the most important type of secrets in Starfield. They can permanently increase the hero's stats. You can find magazines in places related to quests or optional locations on planets. A Hand Scanner can help in finding them.
2. After collecting a magazine, you will find out what stat bonus it grants - in the example from the picture, it's a 5% reduction in fall damage. Bonuses to statistics from magazines of the same group may accumulate.

Do you need to examine a magazine in the inventory?

1. The bonus to statistics is added permanently immediately after picking up the magazine - the game will display a message in the upper right corner of the screen. If you want, you can check the magazine by opening the inventory and finding it in the Notes tab, but this is optional.
2. You don't lose a bonus from the specific magazine after discarding it from the inventory. The stat bonus will remain active until the end of the game.
