Starfield: Where to find power cells for power receptacles?
Power outlets in Starfield require power cells to work. From the guide, you will learn where to find the cells in the Return to Vectera quest and what you can gain from restoring electricity to a location.
Last update:
Some locations and quests in Starfield will have you come across empty power receptacles. On this page we suggest where to look for power cells, describing the Back to Vectera main quest as an example, and what can you gain by restoring power to locations.
Empty power receptacle

- The game world features empty power receptacles requiring a power cell - example pictured above.
- Youll usually find receptacles during some quests, such as the Back to Vectera main quest, which has three empty receptacles next to each other in one of the outpost's buildings. You can also come across them while exploring.
Finding and inserting a cell

- Power cells are usually near the receptacles. You should get some as loot. They're large, long and can be outlined if your hand scanner's active.
- After locating a power cell, add it to your inventory and return to the receptacle. Interacting with it will automatically insert the cell.

- If the quest is currently active in your journal, the game could possibly guide you to the power cells with blue icons. In Back to Vectera, one of the cells can be found in an inactive loading robot and you can take it out in a special interaction window.
- Inserting cells restores electricity to the area. It can unlock new passages or activate terminals. In the quest we're using as an example, activating the terminal lets you acquire new clues about Barrett's whereabouts.
