Expedition 33: How to defeat Chromatic Lancelier?

Where is Chromatic Lancelier?

Chromatic Lancelier can be found in the Spring Meadows region, between the flags of Grand Meadow and Abandoned Expeditioner Camp. Right after the first fight with the flying Volesters, instead of climbing the rope up the cliff, take the side path to find the boss.

Chromatic Lancelier's attacks

1. Slow attack - the enemy jumps towards you, spins the lance and holds it behind his back. He performs a thrust after a significant delay. This attack is easy to parry.
2. Quick attack - Lancelier approaches you, lowers his lance, gently sways his hips and immediately performs a thrust. This attack is easy to parry.
3. Attack - the boss deals two blows. Lancelier performs a slow attack, and a quick one immediately afterwards. It will be safer and less risky to perform two dodges.

How to fight Chromatic Lancelier?

Chromatic Lancelier has an identical combat style to regular Lanceliers - the only difference is that Chromatic Lancelier can perform a double-strike combo. However, he has a lot of health and deals gigantic damage. If you want to defeat him while exploring the location for the first time, the fight will require your each move to be absolutely flawless, as Lancelier can kill you and your allies with just one blow.

Lancelier is vulnerable to ice, so Lune can deal significant damage to him using Ice Lance. She should use it alternately with Immolation. Ice Lance deals high damage, charges the break bar, and creates Ice Stains. Immolation is cheap, sets the enemy on fire and consumes Ice Stains, thus dealing more damage. Let Gustave take advantage of Lumiere Assault to charge his hand and use regular attacks to restore AP. When his hand is charged or the enemy's break bar is filled, use Overcharge - you will either deal significant damage or stun him. However, the most important thing is mastering the defense - the boss's attacks are very predictable, but a single mistake can kill you.

If you have unlocked Gustave's Marking Shot ability, use it to apply a Mark to the boss. During your next turn, shoot him in his weak spot using any team member to do that. The mark will drastically increase the damage dealt and the boss will immediately lose about 2/3 of his health. Be careful: the sign will disappear when the boss receives any damage (so you can accidentally remove it with a counterattack), and the weak point can only be destroyed once.

Rewards for defeating Chromatic Lancelier

For defeating Chromatic Lancelier, you will receive:

1. 150 XP,
2. 540 Chroma,
3. Lanceram - weapon for Gustave,
4. Augmented Attack Picto - increases damage dealt by basic attacks by 50%,
5. Chroma Catalyst x2,
6. Color of Lumina x5.
