During the game, we control a fleet of spaceships, traversing the vast, open world, discovering new planets, and fighting with encountered opponents. Developers have left players a lot of choice in taking various activities and choosing a career. Authors also provided them with the ability to land on planet surfaces in order to obtain raw materials or capture unknown fauna species. During the game, we unlock a number of technologies, allowing modifications of our ships and space stations. We can also assign additional tasks to individual members of the crew who can develop their skills and learn new roles in the course of the game. Spacewrights offers a narrative campaign for single player as well as a survival mode and cross-platform multiplayer.

A mobile strategy game from the creators of Rise of Nations. DomiNations lets us lead one of several developing nations (including Britons, Romans, Japanese, Greek) on their quest for power and world domination. We start in the Stone Age and – as we progress and invent more advanced technologies – experience all of the most important eras of human history. Like the popular Sid Meier’s Civilization series, the game features famous buildings and historical characters, such as Alexander the Great, Cleopatra or Napoleon Bonaparte. The developers have focused on the technological progress, which allows us to move to another age. Alliances with other users are equally important as the conquest of nearby areas. DomiNations features attractive, two-dimensional visuals in high resolutions, with very detailed objects and good-looking animations of units.

Action, World War II, Singleplayer, Shooters, TPP.

A three-dimensional World War II shooter developed by Gameloft. The main protagonist is Sergeant Wright, who after landing in Normandy continues the military offensive on territories occupied by the Nazis. He is accompanied by a small group of men, each member of which has unique equipment and skills. The game features only a story campaign, which consists of eight missions. During them the player participates in open shootouts with enemies and performs stealth missions. The action is presented with a third-person perspective – the first-person perspective is used only while precisely aiming. Because of that and the presence of a cover system, despite the large number of enemies the action is rather slow paced. During the fights the player can use special attacks (like an airstrike, rockets, Molotov’s cocktails) and the gameplay mechanics feature RPG traits like statistics upgrading and developing the skills of members of the squad.

It is the seventh installment in a race game series devoted to Formula 1. As per usual, the game was created by British developer Codemasters, known for such legendary titles, as Colin McRae Rally, TOCA Race Driver, or Micro Machines. Traditionally, you can play through an entire Formula 1 season, taking part in all test sessions, eliminations, and proper races. The game features also a scenario mode and a multiplayer, letting you compete against living opponents. For the first time in the history of the series the creators adjusted the time of release to coincide with the beginning of the racing season. This enabled the game to synchronize drivers’ condition and performance in-game and in reality, using real-life data. F1 2015 is the first edition of the series designed for the eight generation consoles, which significantly improved the game’s realism and graphics.

The foundations of the new installment remain unchanged and the game still focuses mostly on controlling various train types on tracks located in different corners of the world. The player can select from many faithfully recreated rail tracks and realistic models of actual trains. Train Simulator 2016 is a technical revolution for the series, introducing the game to the modern Unreal Engine 4 technology. This had a very positive impact on the graphics of the title, but it also made the DLC created for the previous games incompatible with the 2016 installment. The players are forced to build their large base of expansions from scratch. The game traditionally offers an advanced editor which enables the player to create their own locomotives, locations and tasks.

A hybrid MMO game combining PvP duels typical for MOBA titles with an extensive, story-based PvE component; it was created by NCSoft - an experienced, Korean developer. Both popular and completely new characters were included - each has their different active and passive abilities. The player can switch between two different characters during PvP fights (including modes such as Team Deathmatch, Point Control or Ruins of the Titans). What is innovative about Master X Master, is the introduction of an additional yet full-fledged PvE component based on missions differing in difficulty level and set in one of 25 locations. All of this is complemented by a recreational mode, which is a rare occurrence in MMO games. In this production from Realmforge, we once again assume the role of a dark lord who rules underground dungeons. This time, however, his ambitions go much further. Apart from defending his realm, his goal is also to attack human settlements and castles that can be found on the surface. Therefore, the gameplay of Dungeons 2 takes place on two levels. The economic part focuses around raw materials acquisition, dungeon development, researching new technologies, and training monsters. Once the player emerges on the surface, the game turns into a classic RTS, in which we lead an army of horrific creatures to plunder and wreak havoc in human settlements. The game is characterized by a rather humorous approach, making fun of numerous, hackneyed patterns of the fantasy genre. In addition to the typical single-player campaign, the game also features a multiplayer mode for up to 4 people.

The game puts emphasis on the lore and contains much additional information about the fictional universe. As for the gameplay, Faeria represents an unorthodox approach to the card game genre. Duels between two players are the foundation of the game. The fights are waged by using cards drawn from users’ personal decks. The warriors must also gather resources and use them in the duels. The cards represent heroes, effects and spells, but they cannot be played freely. Instead they have to be used on special, hexagon fields. Empty at first, the map becomes filled with hexes due to the player’s actions, and various terrain types affect the behavior of units and spells. Another innovation in the game is the necessity for characters to find themselves on adjacent fields in order to start the battle. It is worth adding that Faeria also allows the owners of various gaming platforms to face each other.

A free-to-play spin-off installment to the bestselling racing game series known from the subsequent generations of the Xbox console. It was developed by Turn 10 Studios with PC users in mind. The gameplay of Forza Motorsport 6: Apex does not differ significantly from other full-fledged installments in the series and emphasizes simulation aspects (while still offering a number of gameplay facilities). Compared to the full-price console version, the title is significantly poorer content-wise. The game features only slightly more than 60 cars (compared to the 450 models available in the original) and 20 tracks in six locations based on actual racing circuits. The basic game mode, Showcase Tour, allows us to take part in 12 automobile events commented on by the former hosts of the highly-popular Top Gear television series.

We also have to take care of various vital parameters of our character, providing him with food, oxygen, and protection from radiation. The game concentrates around the co-op mode, which shows not only in the possibility of working together with other players, but is also necessary to master crafting. Rokh is powered by Unreal Engine 4, offering e.g. dynamic weather and atmospheric pressure, which both have major impact on the gameplay.

The action of Through the Woods takes place in modern times in a dark forest somewhere on the western shore of Norway. While playing, we assume the role of a desperate woman named Karen who tries to find her lost son. She is constantly interrupted by various evil creatures inspired by Nordic mythology and Scandinavian folklore. The game has an unusual form of a flashback that takes place while the protagonist is having a sessions with a psychologist. In the title, we mostly explore and solve puzzles, although we will also engage in arcade challenges. Most of them boil down to sneaking or running, though, since the heroine is practically defenseless in direct combat and the only gadget she possess is a torchlight that comes in handy very often.

In Earth Defense Force 4.1: The Shadow of New Despair we play as a member of the titular organization that protects our planter from the invading species from space, just like in the previous games from the series. The game takes place in 2025, when Earth is once again attacked by the insectoid alien invaders. Before we can face them, we have to choose one from a couple of available classes, like the universal infantry soldier, air strike specialist or the heavy arms expert. No matter what class we decide to play as, we have a wide array of weapons at our disposal. Even though we cannot control them directly, tanks, helicopters, and mechs aid us in battle. The game focuses on fighting creatures that look like overgrown ants, hornets, even dragons, or armored vehicles. Along with the single player campaign, Earth Defense Force 4.1: The Shadow of New Despair offers multiplayer cooperative missions.
