In terms of the plot, The Sacrifice is a prequel to The Passing - the other expansion pack, released several months earlier. The players assume the roles of four survivors from the original Left 4 Dead, who are trying to make their way to the southern part of the United States. The group will have to face severe difficulties, for the zombies are getting more aggressive over time and the overall number of them is constantly rising. This means that when the characters reach the dramatic finale, one of them has to make the titular sacrifice in order to save the group. Interestingly, the expansion pack is compatible with both installments of the Left 4 Dead series. However, the two versions differ in game modes and weapons available. Moreover, the owners of Left 4 Dead 2 additionally receive a mission pack named No Mercy - it comprises of the popular missions from the original Left 4 Dead.

After the previous developer (responsible for the first installment from 2001) was taken over by THQ, the series was given to Haemimont Games. The main highlight of the gameplay is taking care of the country’s budget, which is fed by resource mining and production of various goods. The citizens’ happiness is also an important aspect. We take care of them through creating various public utility buildings. To get the political chaos under control, we can use military, bribes, intimidation, or even public executions. If brutal methods don’t serve their purpose anymore, we can attempt to talk with the opposition, and in case of a natural disaster, The Red Cross will heed our call. In the fourth installment of the game, we are introduced to a new set of special buildings and a system of trading with neighboring countries.

The main protagonist is a forgotten and somewhat broken toy resembling a dog that has a wheel instead of paws. The player’s task is to take care of it, which is done in a rather unusual way because we do not have direct control over the toy, but we can influence its behavior by manipulating the environment. The Unlikely Legend of Rusty Pup is characterized by a pretty dark atmosphere, although not completely devoid of black comedy. On the technical side, the title uses a number of characteristic capabilities of the Nintendo consoles which translates into innovative control solutions, among other things.

Gameplay mechanics of Soul Saga are strongly inspired by such series like Final Fantasy, Breath of Fire, Suikoden and Persona. The game concentrates on exploring the world, developing characters and facing enemies in turn-based combat in which correct selection of attacks is the key to victory.

Our job will be to find the reason behind those events and to unravel a galactic conspiracy Alyssa was unaware of before. Gameplay in Cosmic Star Heroine focuses on exploration and combat. During the turn-based battles we will use a rather unique weapon: a rod that can generate force fields and turn into a rifle. Talking with NPCs and modifying our headquarters also plays an important role in the game. Additionally, Alyssa can recruit agents that will accompany her in her adventures. Cosmic Star Heroine is powered by Unity technology and has 2D pixel-art visuals.

A roguelike game developed by the independent studio Capybara Games (the authors of Critter Crunch, Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes and Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery). Below takes place on a mysterious island, the dungeons of which are filled with secrets and unknown technologies. The player assumes the role of a brave man who goes deep into the island armed only with a sword, a shield, a torch, and the curiosity that pushes him forward. While exploring the dark caves, he will encounter hostile creatures that will force him to fight for his life. The game has a unique visual style, a bit familiar to the previous game from Capybara Games – Sword & Sworcery. However, this time developers decided not to use pixel art. Instead, the game has more detailed visuals that sometimes resemble the ones from Journey. The world of Below is dark and most of the time the only thing that lights it up is the torch held by the protagonist. Jim Guthrie, compositor of music for Sword & Sworcery, created atmospheric tracks for this game as well.

Another entry in the fighting game series that began in 1999 and is an exclusive franchise of Nintendo’s consoles. The most characteristic feature of Super Smash Bros. is the appearance of characters known from other top-selling series of the Japanese developer. It isn’t different this time, with over 50 characters available, known from such franchises as Super Mario, Donkey Kong, Pokemon, or Legend of Zelda. The roster also includes completely new and previously unavailable fighters from Mega-man, Pac-man, Street Fighter, Final Fantasy, Animal Crossing, and Bayonetta. In terms of gameplay, the title remains true to the tradition of previous games in the series, giving us a unique mix, which requires more than simply pummeling your opponents. Each skirmish takes place on a special, multilevel arena, and the gameplay may change during the battle, in a more platform game manner.

A turn-based strategy game set in a popular science-fiction universe, developed by Slitherine, an esteemed studio specialized in strategy titles. The plot is focused on a great war of the planet Armageddon, in which the allied forces of the Space Marines and the Imperial Guard fight against the army of orks led by Ghazghkull Thraka. The story campaign consists of 35 missions and is non-linear to some extent, as it develops depending on your actions. The game features over 100 kinds of units, each with its own set of abilities and skills that can be developed over the course of the game. The developers created a complex strategy-based combat system, which takes into account such factors as land relief, weather conditions or the soldiers' morale. Apart from the singleplayer mode, the game allows for online matches on dedicated server maps, where you can also lead an orkish army. Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon also includes user-friendly modding tools, which enable you to create your own missions.
