A first-person shooter developed by Spark Unlimited. Members of the studio worked formerly mainly on the famous Call of Duty and Medal of Honor franchises. The player is put in the shoes of Charles Deckard - an art thief. Unfortunately, he obtains the legendary Pandora's box and literally opens it. Numerous creatures described in mythologies escape from the box (including such things as werewolfs and gryphons), and the protagonist, being the main reason behind the whole problem, decides to fight them. In terms of gameplay, the title is an arcade first-person shooter consisting of traversing ruined cities and fighting groups of powerful enemies with the help of modern firearms. Interestingly, each enemy has a rage level indicator. It increases mainly when the monster is taking damage, which makes it more and more dangerous in combat. The protagonist is supported by a team of comrades. Apart from the single player campaign, the game offers multiplayer options as well.

To save the world, Lara needs to collect every piece of the mythical Armour of Horus and call upon his help in order to fight the enemy. In contrast to the previous installments of the series, Tomb Raider 4 emphasizes freedom – each location can be visited numerous times in any order. Other elements of the series are virtually unchanged, except the developer gave Lara some new abilities and weapons unavailable before. Tomb Raider 4 is the first title in the series that introduces an option of combining items, which allows us to modify our equipment.

Because of that, the gameplay mechanics of both titles are very similar. Once again the player assumes the role of William B.J. Blazkowicz, an American Special Forces commando sent to Nazi Germany. This time he is tasked with reclaiming the legendary Spear of Destiny, moved by the Nazis from Versailles and placed in an inaccessible stronghold at the beginning of World War II. Spear of Destiny offers more than a dozen of new maps as well as some new enemies. In contrast to Wolfenstein 3D, the levels aren’t divided into episodes but form a single long mission which ends with a battle against Adolf Hitler. The gameplay remained unchanged – the action is shown from a first-person perspective and the player travels through corridors filled with enemies whom he defeats mostly by using firearms. Defeating a boss is usually rewarded with a key that unlocks passage to a new location.
