Metroid: Samus Returns is a remastered and thoroughly remodeled version of Metroid II: Samus Returns, which was originally released on Game Boy in 1991. The modern version was developed by MercuryStream Entertainment, creators of games like the well-received Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. As the title may suggest, Samus Aran, an intergalactic bounty hunter who fights with space pirates, is the protagonist here, just like in many other Metroid games. Action in the game is presented from a side-scrolling perspective. Gameplay focuses on exploration of various vast and nonlinear levels and elimination of the titular metroid creatures. As we progress, we gain access to new areas. Samus uses a wide range of Beams, futuristic cannons that fire energy bullets and beams. She also uses the unique abilities that her Space Jump suit grants her (she can jump higher when using it). Additionally, Samus can take alternative forms that will help her get to some normally inaccessible areas.

Super Lucky’s Tale is a 3D platform game developed by Playful Corporation, creators of the series’ previous installment, Lucky’s Tale. We play as the titular fox Lucky who, together with his sister, tries to recover the Book of Ages stolen by the evil Jinks. Super Lucky's Tale is in many ways similar to other 3D platformers like Yooka-Laylee or the Rayman series. Gameplay focuses on exploration of various locations. Lucky is an agile fox that can jump, move objects from one place to another, climb, and dig in the ground. We use his abilities to move around the game’s locations, bypass obstacles, solve simple riddles, and collect gold coins. Action is presented from a third-person perspective, but the game offers a special side-scrolling level with challenges where our adventures are presented like in old-school platform games. Super Lucky's Tale was released as a part of the Xbox Play Anywhere programe – if you buy a digital copy of the game on Xbox One, you get its Windows 10 edition for free (and vice-versa).

The main protagonists in A Way Out are two convicts: Vincent and Leo. Together they are devising a way to escape from prison and then build their lives anew outside its walls. When it comes to mechanics A Way Out offers quite a variety in gameplay. Over the course of the story campaign the players will take part in fist fights, shootouts, car pursuits, stealth sequences and so on. Other noteworthy features are the advanced AI, and freedom when it comes to tackling in-game challenges. As befits a co-op game, the key to success lies in skillful cooperation between the two heroes. Just for that, A Way Out offers both a local split screen mode and online play. As for technical aspects, the game uses the advanced Unreal Engine 4 technology for generating graphics.

South Park: Phone Destroyer is a mobile strategy game based on a controversial animated TV series for adults. Developed by RedLynx – creators of the Trials game series – this South Park game installment is based on a free-to-play business model and features some microtransactions. During the game, the players have to collect cards representing characters known from the TV series and use them in order to build decks. Cards can be played during real-time battles, resulting in new characters appearing on the map and advancing on the enemy forces. The gameplay comes down to battles between two factions fighting each other from opposing sides of the screen. The creators prepared a typical for this kind of video games multiplayer mode. At the same time, the game offers an extensive story campaign, which, compared to similar games, is an unusual thing. Like the animated TV series, the entire game features the atmosphere of absurd comedy – jokes are plentiful, while the script riffs almost everything and everyone. Also, the visuals are kept in the same style as in the TV series, which should not come off as a surprise – South Park: Phone Destroyer has been created in cooperation with Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the fathers of the original TV series.

Additionally, the developers decided to introduce two more attractions – a new game mode called Minion Quest: The Search for Bowser, showing the events from the main campaign as they are seen by Captain Goomba, ShyGuy, Boo, and others, as well as the support of amiibo™ figures. Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser’s Minions is compatible with Super Mario toys, and along with the game’s release, the developers introduced two new figures - Goomba and Koopa Troopa.

An essential part of gameplay is combat – on the battlefield you get to use both firearms and self-made traps, as well as other deadly gadgets against your enemies. Alternatively, you are free to put down your guns and use a stealthy approach. Apart from enemy infantry, from time to time you must fight the so-called Wanzers, i.e. powerful mechs, iconic for the Front Mission series – interestingly, there are several occasions in the game, in which you can control one of those and strike fear in your opponents’ hearts. Gameplay is still based on obtaining material evidence, careful examination of objects related to the case, and interrogating suspects – all this is to help find the culprit and close the case in the right way. The game has been both developed and published by Gameloft, but it's somewhat different from the previous installments - during the campaign the player has to wage arcade battles against hordes of enemies, but this time around, they get to control an entire team comprising several from a couple hundred available characters. Simultaneously, one can control only one warrior; however, the other characters can be given simple commands. At any given moment, one can switch between the characters. Apart from gathering the heroes, the player has to develop their skills and equipment. Dungeon Hunter Champions features a horde mode, in which the player has to fight off consecutive waves of increasingly powerful foes. Moreover, the game offers a multiplayer mode, which follows the MOBA convention. In the online battles, two five-player teams compete against each other; each player controls a single champion with a task to destroy the enemy base.

Action, Meta Quest / Oculus, PlayStation VR, Rail Shooter, Shoot 'em Up, Singleplayer, Shooters, VR.

A rail shooter created by Llamasoft. The player is placed in control of a combat ship, which constantly goes forward and whether it is over a surface or inside a tunnel, the player's role remains to maneuver to the sides, perform dodges, attack enemies and destroy countless obstacles. The player fights smaller and larger adversaries coming in large numbers. A scoring system evaluates the player at all times - the scores achieved in 50 levels (differing in terms of colors and enemies one encounters) can be increased through collecting power-ups (which give speed boosts) and eliminating enemies quickly. Polybius catches one's attention with its simple, but incredibly original visuals and a pleasant, trance soundtrack. Although the game was created specifically for VR headsets, being in possession of such a piece of hardware is not required.
