Strategy, 2D, World War II, Singleplayer, War Strategy, Turn-based.
A complex turn-based strategy, developed by the famous Gary Grigsby and his studio, 2BY3 Games. The title says it all - War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-45 focuses on the 1941-1945 conflict between Soviets and Third Reich that ravaged Central and Eastern Europe. Similarly to their previous games, the authors offer not only a realistic recreation of the warfare itself, but also pay great attention to the economic factors that played a tremendous role in how the conflict had shaped itself over the years. The map, spanning from East Berlin, through Leningrad and Baku, up to Ural Mountains, contains all the locations of major clashes between Germany and Soviet Union. As a tradition of such games, a lot of effort was placed into recreating the military units that took part in the conflict, including their training, experience, fatigue, and morale. To increase the believability of the action, the game calculates a number of factors, including landform, weather conditions, or soldiers’ field of view.
