A strategy game set in a unique sci-fi universe, developed by American studio Snapshot Games. Inspired by horror movies and the works of H. P. Lovecraft, the story of Phoenix Point takes place in 2046, when an ancient virus is relentlessly attacking all life forms, transforming them into mutated monsters. Mechanics-wise, the game is based on the X-COM series. You take control of the last bastion of humanity, caring about its development and safety. You spend most of the gameplay fighting turn-based battles with your foes, taking place on procedurally generated maps, but you also use the world map to gather the necessary resources, as well as to search for other settlements and do the missions received there. You can also contact other factions and use their unique technology and weapons.

On his 16th birthday, he discovers that he is an incarnation of a hero who saved the world from annihilation many years ago. Since then, the youngster’s life takes a radical turn, and his further fate is uncertain. Accompanied by loyal friends, the protagonist embarks on a journey which will seal his destiny. The production is very sandbox — at its core are exploration of the environment, conversing with non-player characters, and performing quests given by them. Turn-based combat is an integral part of the gameplay. To win a battle, we have to adequately develop our character and adjust our equipment accordingly.

The eleventh installment in the most popular soccer manager game franchise, originated as Championship Manager back in 1992, and was developed continuously by the British studio Sports Interactive. Traditionally, the game lets you become a manager in one of a few hundred clubs belonging to several dozen soccer leagues from all over the world. As always, there is also an array of innovations and changes. One of the key ones is an option of getting couching licenses and training your team personally. Furthermore, the game introduces new tactical options, new player roles, and individual player shouts. Furthermore, scouts and computer AI were improved. What is noteworthy in terms of visuals, is the new UI, which brings back the side tool bar, and introduces multiple changes in match engine, new animations, more detailed stadiums and player models, as well as enhanced shading and lighting.

A two-dimensional shooter which takes place in the gangster underworld during the 20s. The game was developed by a small Belgium studio Crazy Monkey. In the title the player assumes the role of a gangster whose family terrorizes the streets. However, trouble begins when a rival mafia appears in the city. What’s worse, hordes of zombies are conquering the streets. The protagonist of the game hits the streets equipped with various weapons – from Molotov Cocktails, through machetes, pistols and rifles, to flamethrowers – in order to face the increasing threat. The gameplay of the game focuses on eliminating waves of enemies in various locations placed in open and closed areas. Bonuses hidden on the map provide additional motivation – they allow us to upgrade our weapons and unlock new game modes. The graphics of the game consists of comic book-like, hand drawn graphics and cartoonish cutscenes.

The game is set in a future where peace is ensured by the eponymous organization, established decades ago for protection against attacks by renegade robots. When it starts to crumble, torn apart by internal conflicts, its responsibilities are taken over by completely new characters whose roles are assumed by the players. The game focuses on multiplayer team duels which reward performing certain tasks instead of eliminating other characters. A wide array of heroes with different abilities is involved in the combat and, depending on the situation, we can switch our hero several times during one fight. The game does not offer any development of characters' skills and equipment, instead the key to victory are the skills of the players and good teamwork.

A tactical shooter released as a sequel to one of the most popular Battlefield 2 modifications - Project Reality. The game was developed as a commercial version of that mod; however, only part of the original team worked on it. Nevertheless, Squad stayed true to the original concept, focusing mainly on online gameplay, and was designed to be something between an action-packed first-person shooter and a hardcore military simulation. Gameplay is focused on battles of two rivaling teams of players, representing different hostile factions (e.g. the USA and terrorists), with proper teamwork being the key to success. Players can use accurately recreated weapons and vehicles, but also modify battlefields by building all sorts of defensive structures. The game’s landmark feature is its high degree of realism and lack of many modern simplifications.

At the same time, it is a conflict between the traditional Japanese samurai culture and the modern firearms-based army. Technological advancement of our faction and the available units are largely dependent on our relations with overseas superpowers. Total War: SHOGUN 2 - Fall Of The Samurai offers an expanded campaign map, railway transportation, additional units and agents, and a new kind of battle: port siege. The introduction of firearms, especially the Gatling gun, is also a great innovation. Apart from the aforementioned campaign, the expansion comes with 4 historical battles and an updated multiplayer mode.

The protagonist is equally skillful in using various gunfire and ninja weapons (katanas, shurikens and other). The game allows great freedom in developing the character and modifying his equipment.

The story of Dynasty Warriors 9 is loosely based on the novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms that describes the Chinese civil war that occurred during the 2nd and 3rd century. The player can choose from a few dozen of varied characters, some of which are well known from the previous entries in the series. The rest are completely new characters or ones from other games from this developer. The gameplay focuses on real-time battles with hundreds of participants. The title was released as part of the 15th anniversary of the series and it introduces some important novelties to the saga, including a modified combat system and a large open world that contains the entirety of China. The key to victory lies in proper usage of available weapons and special abilities of various characters and in taking advantage of the topography of the battlefields.

A 2D turn-based strategy game set in an original science-fiction universe developed by the creators of FTL: Faster Than Light. In Into the Breach the player controls small squads comprised of mech robots that protect what remains of humanity against the lurking deep underground aliens. The battles in the game take place on relatively small and procedurally-generated 2D battlefields. They are covered with 64 squares, between which both the player and their opponent can move their units. One’s objective is to defend civilian settlements against the aliens. Missions are quite short; however, they pose a considerable logic challenge and offer the players freedom in how they decide to carry them out. Moreover, the player can equip their machines with new weapons and select pilots to operate them – the pilots’ unique abilities have a significant impact on the result of each battle. The retro 2D visuals somewhat resemble what one may have experienced in FTL.

Most of the changes are related to the graphics and interface – they were adapted to modern computers and displays. This enabled the game to support 4K resolution. In comparison to the original game, the gameplay mechanics of Age of Empires III: Definite Edition remained unchanged. The game still focuses on managing a settlement by gathering resources, constructing new buildings, discovering new areas of the map and leading selected nation through various ages. Fighting enemy is an important aspect of the game – the battles are fought by infantry, cavalry, siege machines and powerful artillery. In addition to a single-player mode, the game features advanced multiplayer mode.

A simulator of a gold seeker. Developed by the Polish studio Code Horizon, the game gives the player an opportunity to travel to the cold regions of Alaska in order to excavate lodes of shining gold. The player supplies their equipment with fuel and electricity, carries loads of soil using an excavator or a loader, cleans the material with a sifter and other devices, and ultimately picks lumps of gold with tweezers. The metal gathered is then taken to a blacksmith that can turn it into gold bars. The funds gathered are spent on upgrading one's machinery, as well as buying fuel and spare parts for the machines we own. The in-game seasonal cycle and the subsequent bad weather conditions may damage the player's equipment and sometimes even render them unable to continue excavation. A day and night cycle was also implemented - the player is capable of conducting work at night, but the necessary machines providing light use up precious fuel then, which also has to be taken into consideration. The game offers a complex tutorial for beginners, apart from the main Free Mode, which is an open-world component. In this latter variant, the player is free to develop their career, explore the game world, and discover its mysterious stories.

Another installment in a series of sports games dedicated to wrestling and released annually by 2K Games. The players take on the roles of professional wrestlers from NXT and WWE leagues, and take part in encounters in the ring. A series of improvements were introduced into the combat system - above all, the wrestlers can perform more moves now. Fighting is not all about exchange of attacks, as the player often brings the opponent down, throws them at the mat, or even out of the ring, in order to continue the fight closer to the audience or in the backstage. In NBA 2K18, the players once again get an elaborate basketball simulator revolving around the official NBA league. Apart from the teams currently playing in the league and the official USA and Australia national teams, the game delivers iconic teams from the past - not only those, one might remember from the previous installments in the NBA 2K series, but also such teams as 1998-1999 New York Knicks and 2007-2008 Denver Nuggets. In NBA 2K18, one can play alone or in a company of other players. The game features several game modes - the most important one being MyCareer, in which one gets to create their own basketball player and follow his career of an NBA professional player. Moreover, this installment brings back such modes as MyGM and MyLeague, both of which allow the player to become a manager of a chosen team. To top it all, in NBA 2K18 there is also the MyTeam mode, in which one gets to assemble his dream team by collecting special cards.

Strike of Kings is a recreation of League of Legends, recreating all the mechanics and assets offered in the aforementioned game. The players are split into two teams (1v1, 3v3, or 5v5 matches) in which each player controls a single hero, equipped with a set of unique skills and abilities. Both teams are tasked with destroying the base of the opposing side, guarded by turrets and AI-controlled units, which requires cooperation and a skillful use of the available abilities. The game uses a free-to-play model with optional microtransactions.
