Another full-fledged installment in the popular series of third-person perspective action games with tactical features. The series is developed by the Japanese studio Omega Force. The story of Dynasty Warriors 9 is loosely based on the novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms that describes the Chinese civil war that occurred during the 2nd and 3rd century. The player can choose from a few dozen of varied characters, some of which are well known from the previous entries in the series. The rest are completely new characters or ones from other games from this developer. The gameplay focuses on real-time battles with hundreds of participants. The title was released as part of the 15th anniversary of the series and it introduces some important novelties to the saga, including a modified combat system and a large open world that contains the entirety of China. The key to victory lies in proper usage of available weapons and special abilities of various characters and in taking advantage of the topography of the battlefields.

Rune: Ragnarok is an action RPG developed by Human Head, which is a sequel to the cult classic game called Rune, released in 2000. Rune: Ragnarok takes you to a fantasy realm based on the Nordic mythology. The game’s story starts seven years after the eponymous Ragnarok has begun. Despite the pervasive death and destruction, there is no end to the conflict. That’s why the remaining humans (including the protagonist) decide to take the initiative and slay all gods in order to put a stop to the apocalypse. While playing you explore a large open world, assault enemy settlements, sail the seas, complete missions, craft items, and develop your hero’s skills. The game’s heart is the expansive combat system, characterized by its focus on action and explicit brutality. An important role is also played by deities. The player can choose to worship one of them, which grants them access to a variety of special powers.

The plot of Punch Club (also known as Video Hero Super Story) tells a story of a boy whose father was brutally killed. Twenty years later, the hero decides to become the best fighter in the world and find out who was responsible for his father’s death. Apart from fighting, the player needs to take care of the character’s everyday activities. You have to follow a diet and train, which will help you face ever stronger enemies, but to do that, you will need to have a well-paid job to cover the costs of, for example, exercising equipment. The game features old-school pixel visuals, which resemble video games and films from the ’80s and ‘90s.

The production’s mechanics combine elements of a classical roguelike RPG and a trading card game. The gameplay puts emphasis on subsequent night journeys to dungeons where the protagonist faces more or less challenging enemies and gathers a myriad of valuable items and skills that bring him closer to achieving his goal. During the day, however, we have to manage and develop the hero’s store, improve our knowledge of the wares we sell, and make increasingly bigger profits.

A strategy game set in a unique sci-fi universe, developed by American studio Snapshot Games. Inspired by horror movies and the works of H. P. Lovecraft, the story of Phoenix Point takes place in 2046, when an ancient virus is relentlessly attacking all life forms, transforming them into mutated monsters. Mechanics-wise, the game is based on the X-COM series. You take control of the last bastion of humanity, caring about its development and safety. You spend most of the gameplay fighting turn-based battles with your foes, taking place on procedurally generated maps, but you also use the world map to gather the necessary resources, as well as to search for other settlements and do the missions received there. You can also contact other factions and use their unique technology and weapons.

A remastered edition of the twelfth installment in a series of popular jRPGs. Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age was created on the basis of Final Fantasy XII International Zodiac Job System - an extended edition of the original release. The Zodiac Age is set in a fantasy world known as Ivalice, which is being torn apart by a constant war between two superpowers. Vaan, a teenage orphan who dreams of a career as a sky-pirate must find his place within the events. As a result of a coincidence, the protagonist joins the local resistance and sets out for a journey - what is at stake however, is the fate of the entire world. The game is played from a third-person view and the player explores extensive 3D locations. Combat takes place in real-time, but the game offers an active pause option, allowing the player to give out orders to their characters without having to hurry. The game brings an original character development system based on the so-called licenses that allow the characters to use particular abilities. The remastered edition offers improved visuals, as well as a soundtrack recorded from scratch.

The player takes on the role of a member of Eurocorp corporation, Miles Kilo, who, acting on behalf of his organization, will be entangled in a vortex of complicated intrigue.

Rune (2000)

An action-adventure game set in a world based on Norse mythology, in the times when Vikings were conquering the cold, grim world, and the pagan religions were widespread in the north. You play as a young warrior named Ragnar, who has to defeat mythical monsters and discover the source of evil that has been destroying his people. The game, which utilizes the Unreal Tournament graphic engine, features a mysterious world of the Vikings consisting of 25 levels. To succeed in combat, you need to react to the monsters' behavior — you have to hit and parry in the right moment, otherwise you may risk getting struck dead. You can also gather special health points, weapons, and other items. There is also an online multiplayer mode, which allows you to fight other players on a special arena.
