March 8, 2017

Highway Getaway is a racing game/endless runner hybrid developed jointly by Invictus Games and Vivid Games. We play as a race driver who is being chased by the police. The game takes place on the streets with heavy traffic. All race tracks are generated procedurally. All we have to do is to drive as far as possible and beat the records set by other players. Highway Getaway offers over two hundred diversified missions. As we progress and achieve better results we will unlock new cars and gain access to new visual modifications, which we can buy for the in-game currency that we get while playing. How much money we make depends on our achievements. Driving at high speed and performing dangerous maneuvers increases our infamy levels, for which we are being paid by a TV station that produces a show about car pursuits. Highway Getaway features great visuals and highly detailed car models.

In the game the player traditionally participates in brutal races in which one can win not only by driving fast, but by eliminating the vehicles of the opponents as well. FlatOut 4: Total Insanity has the option to destroy the environmental objects, create astonishing crashes and sports a realistic destruction system – all the features that were the iconic traits of the series since it was created.

April 5, 2017

A racing game, developed by an indie studio called Iceflake Studios, that takes inspirations from the classics of the genre, including cult-classic Micro Machines. The game was released on PC Windows platform as Race Online but on Xbox One the game is called Race Arcade. Regardless of the platform, the players participate in dynamic races on more than a hundred diverse tracks and the game is presented from a top-down perspective. We can choose from among six cars that have both strong and weak points (their color can be customized). The game offers three single player game modes – in the career mode we participate in a series of races dedicated to each of the cars; additionally, we can also race in time trials and single tournaments. What's more, the game also offers a multiplayer mode – the console version allows the players to race against up to 5 other people but only in a local multiplayer, however, the PC Windows version offers online races in which we can race with up to nine other players. The game also has an extensive track editor – we can share our creations with the community thanks to Steam Workshop.

April 18, 2017

A game which gives us an opportunity to ride ATVs while participating in insane racing events all over the globe. Developed by Nighthawk Interactive, ATV Renegades offers both competition for the best position on the finish line, and for the highest point score, rewarding the player for performing spectacular tricks. A classic career-like mode - the World Tour, constitutes the core element of the experience, but the game also offers quick races in addition to the aforementioned freestyle contests. It is worth mentioning that the in-game vehicles differ in their statistics and performances; as for the rider, the player can customize their appearance to their liking. What is a big advantage of the game, ATV Renegades offers a local multiplayer opportunity to challenge a second player for a split-screen duel. Unfortunately however, the game's visuals are far from satisfactory and can be considered average-quality at best.

An enhanced port of Mario Kart 8 developed for Nintendo Switch. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe reprises a lot of elements known from the two previous installments of the series, such as motorcycles, gliders, the ability to perform somersaults, or underwater racing. However, the developers introduced an interesting novelty – anti-gravity racing, in which we can stick to walls or even to the ceiling. The game doesn’t contain a story-driven single player campaign – we focus on taking part in a series of competitions in which we can race against AI-controlled opponents, as well as other players. Mario Kart 8 contains several multiplayer variants, including online as well as local game modes (split-screen, or a wireless mode for up to eight players). The new edition contains all of the content present in the original game, including released add-ons, at the same introducing new tracks and characters, such as Inkling Girl, Inkling Boy, King Boo, Dry Bones, or Bowser Jr.

Mobile

Racing

August 7, 2017

A mobile version of the well-known Carmageddon racing series, famous for its grotesque, over-the-top violence and black humor. This game was produced by the original creators, i.e. Stainless Games. Carmageddon: Crashers is different from the core installments in the series. Instead of classic races we get an unusual variation on drag racing. In this case, cars start from the opposite sides of the track and rush their way forward until they run into each other. The speed and stats of the cars determine which one wins the crash. As a game, Carmageddon: Crashers is not too different from other representatives of the drag race genre – the player is unable to turn, as the control over the car is limited to shifting gears at the right time and only slightly adjusting the course. Carmageddon: Crashers offers a wide range of cars that can be modified to a large extent by installing better parts and changing the look of the machine. Another important feature is the sponsorship mechanics.

August 10, 2017

A refreshed and expanded version of 2006's Crashday, developed by the creators of the original version, the Moonbyte studio. The game offers twelve cars (urban vehicles, heavy off-road cars, and sport rides), and the player participates in insane and dynamic racing events taking place on 36 tracks filled with obstacles and jumps. Apart from the necessity to get familiar with each track, victory is achieved through making a good use of tools that can make winning harder for the opponents, such as cannons or missile launchers. Collecting the power-ups scattered throughout the track is an important aspect as well, as they can instantly fix one's ride or refill the ammunition. Crashday offers seven kinds of competitions, namely Race, Wrecking Match, Stunt Mode, Hold The Flag, Pass The Bomb, Bomb Run and Test Drive. These are complemented by a complex track editor (one can share tracks they have created with others via Steam Workshop), and a multiplayer mode, which gives an opportunity to compete against up to seven players. Those who prefer the single player experience can launch the career mode, special challenges and single races. Compared to the original version, the game offers improved visuals. As in the original Crashday, competition is intensified through listening to tracks by such musicians as Lowbuz, Peter Struck or Pencilcase.

The core of the game, however, remains unchanged – in Baja: Edge of Control HD players get to participate in thrilling off-road races while driving one of the dozens of available vehicles: 4x4 cars, cross-country vehicles, racing trucks, and many more. What is worth mentioning, the vehicles have not only been modified in terms of their performance and appearance but also can now be damaged. Above all, the creators introduced changes into the game physics, due to the technical improvements brought to this year's cars. Furthermore, the developer removed smaller issues, such as too short braking distances. All of this made the experience slightly more challenging than before, as well as more realistic. The game offers both single player and multiplayer modes, in addition to a local split-screen variant.
