An unusual combination of a digital board game, a card game, and a turn-based strategy with RPG elements. Funded partially by a Kickstarter campaign, Armello is a game by independent Australian artists and developers from League of Geeks studio. Armello is set in a fairytale-like fantasy world populated by anthropomorphic animals. There are four clans striving to take away the power from the corrupted king. Gameplay centers on exploration, accomplishing missions, and combat. In turns, heroes move around a procedurally-generated hex board. Not only do you supply your characters with better and better equipment, but also assemble a deck of cards. They can give you different kinds of items and actions that can be taken during a combat. Armello allows you to play against AI or other players. Visuals combine 2D and 3D elements and the fairytale-like atmosphere resembles animations made by Disney. The soundtrack was composed by Michael Allen and Lisa Gerrard known from Dead Can Dance band.

Strategy, Arcade Elements, Games Workshop, Board & Card, Post-apocalypse, Cars, Singleplayer, Tactics.

An original turn-based strategy created by Auroch Digital. Blood Red States is an adaptation of a board game known as Dark Future and released in 1988 by Games Workshop. The players are taken to a post-apocalyptic world destroyed as a result of a global cataclysm. Well-armed squads known as Sanctioned Ops serve the role of law enforcement now, patrolling the ruined roads and highways. Assuming the roles of the squads' leaders, the players take part in spectacular chases, going after various mobsters and gang members. The experience was based on an unusual pattern, as the gameplay is turn-based and the sides give orders to their units at the same time; afterwards, they observe several seconds of real-time action, when their orders are being executed. The key to success here is not only to react to the opponent's actions, but also to predict their moves and initiate risky maneuvers that can tip the balance in favor of the player's victory.

A funny board game with RPG and CCG elements developed by Korean studio Fakedice. The story of Dicetiny: The Lord of the Dice is a humorous paraphrase of J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings. The game takes place in a realm called Middle-Board and its plot focuses on the legendary magic dice which were given to all races, except for goblins. The goblins decided to sow discord among the dice-bearers by spreading rumors of the one dice that rules them all. During the game players join the selected race. The action takes place on several boards where the players must face various challenges and objectives. One can deal with them with special cards that are collected as the game progresses. In addition to that, we level up each time our pawn makes a full lap around the board. In contrast to classic, rivalry-based board games, the key to success in DICETINY lies is cooperation of all players.

We assume the role of the famous French emperor, who faces a coalition of over a dozen European countries led by the British, in six varied scenarios that take place between 1800 and 1813. The gameplay mechanics of Victory and Glory: Napoleon combine classic strategy, card, and board game elements. It focuses on tactical land and naval battles with the use of actual units and their most famous commanders. The result of each battle is dependent not only on the parameters of the participating units but also on random factors. The special event cards, which are drawn before we start playing and then at every subsequent turn, are an important modifier. The title allows us to compete only against a computer-controlled opponent.

Gameplay focuses on real-time battles between groups of warriors. Each of them has their own strengths and weaknesses, and the key to victory lies in taking advantage of them. Another important gameplay element is the deck of cards built by the players. Those cards will not only power up our warriors, but also activate both offensive and defensive actions. Cards also play an important role in exploration. Battles take place on three-dimensional maps that are divided into hexagonal tiles, and lay of the land, which is an important tactical element that should be taken under consideration when we are preparing our strategy. As a result, Wartile brings to mind a turn-based strategy that somehow takes place in real-time. Along with the story driven campaign Wartile offers a multiplayer mode. The game uses Unreal Engine 4.

A digital board game by Nomad Games combining the iconic Warhammer universe with the rules of the popular board game, Talisman. The story is based on the “Horus Heresy” trilogy by Dan Abnett and takes place in 31st millennium, when humanity flourishes under the rule of a gracious Emperor. When he had suddenly withdrawn from the frontlines, and Horus, his favorite son whom he promoted to the rank of Warmaster, objected to his ambitious plans, a great civil war breaks out. In Talisman: The Horus Heresy, the players assume the role of one of 8 playable characters divided into two groups: the loyalists or the traitors and take command of one division of Space Marines. The gameplay mechanics employ the solutions of the Talisman series, although the scale is incomparably bigger because the board spans across the entire galaxy.
