Similarly as in other games in the genre, in Pure Farming 18 the player assumes the role of a farmer who must maintain his farm. The task requires him to perform various field activities like planting and watering seeds, gathering crops and selling them. Funds obtained in that way can be used for improving the farm and buying new vehicles and farming machines. The game offers many innovative solutions and mechanics that were previously unavailable in other games in the genre.

Another installment of the popular racing simulation game series launched in 2005 and developed by Turn 10 Studios in cooperation with Microsoft. Forza Motorsport 4 introduces numerous novelties in terms of gameplay mechanics as well as technical aspects. The game features over 500 faithfully recreated cars that we can drive on 26 varied speedways at different times of the day for the first time in the history of the series. The career mode was enriched with the so-called World Tour which is a series of tournaments that takes place all around the world. The tuning and the social options (e.g. forming clubs) known from the title’s predecessor were also expanded. One of the primary novelties is the Autovista module, which utilizes the capabilities of Kinect—it allows us to examine the body as well as the interior and compartments of the selected car’s engine. The aforementioned features are complemented by a new version of the matchmaking system that searches for competitors online.

There are more than 200 precisely modeled vehicles available in the game and one can use them to drive on 15 famous tracks, including Spa, Bathurst, Yas Marina and Circuit de la Sarthe. The game has a realistic driving model and control system that uses Kinect technology. What’s interesting, the developers cooperated with the team from the Top Gear TV series. It resulted in the commentary by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May being featured in the game.

The sequel to the critically acclaimed racing game released by Turn 10 for Xbox in 2005. Similarly to its predecessor, Forza Motorsport 2 puts a great emphasis on simulation aspects and rich car customization options. This time around, the players are given over 300 licenses and faithfully recreated vehicles at their disposal. They can also be damaged, both visually and mechanically. The game also offers lots of tuning options, such as the possibility of replacing the engine, installing a turbo, changing breaks configuration, etc. As far as tracks are concerned, the developers designed about 60 locations in 18 different environments. The title offers completely fictional speedways as well as those based on actual places (e.g. Laguna Seca or Silverstone). Thanks to significantly higher technical capabilities of Xbox 360, the graphics were greatly improved and adapted to the HDTV standards.

In the game, we assume control of a team of mercenaries that traverse deserts, sunken villages, ruined cities, and abandoned military complexes to perform various tasks, facing hordes of enemies at the same time. The entire game is played in real time. In combat, we can also perform dodges and use long-rage weaponry. As befits an RPG, as we progress, the team members gain experience, develop their skills and make use of a wide variety of equipment as well as over 50 types of weapons.

The story of Firewatch takes place in an enormous forest in the American state of Wyoming, where our hero is trying to escape his day-to-day problems by becoming a ranger. This seemingly calm profession turns into an extremely complicated one, when various unexplainable events take place in the area that our character is charged with patrolling. The incidents are directly connected to our hero’s boss – Delilah, with whom we constantly keep in touch via radio. Building up relations with our superior is one of the key aspects of the game, as she is the only NPC featured in the production. The gameplay revolves exclusively around the single player mode; the popular Unity engine powers the game’s visuals.

The characters present are a stronger feature of this game - apart from others, the player assumes the role of Ransome - a clown suffering from a curse which makes him unable to get rid of his stage make-up. Franklin is another of the characters the player will be in control of in this game; one day, he (Franklin) discovers that he has died. The player will also assume control of two detectives investigating a case of a body found nearby; Dolores on the other hand, needs to read the testament of her rich uncle. When it comes to the story, the creators mixed a unique taste in humor with different possible endings. All of this is complemented by visuals modeled after LucasArts' classics, as well as an interface resembling the legendary SCUMM system.

The duel system is action-focused, offering a large number of varied attacks and the possibility to combine them into combos. What’s interesting, in the game the player doesn't have to fight many opponents at once. All fights are 1 on 1 encounters. Each opponent is a completely new character with unique abilities and fighting style. During the breaks between the fights the player will also explore. This will allow him to learn the history of the world and obtain valuable hints about the weak points of his opponents.

Apart from the aforementioned prison, the expansion introduces several other areas, including vast wastelands. We will encounter a few new beasts on our travels, such as brontos or genlock alphas that hide behind giant shields. Beside the main storyline, Dragon Age II: Legacy offers side quests as well as previously unknown armor sets and special weapons that can be customized.

A hybrid of a platform and a survival game. The title was developed by two people – Joar Lisberg Jakobsson was the lead programmer and the author of the idea of the game while the music was composed by James Primate. The game takes place in a hostile post-industrial realm filled with complicated machinery. The environment is constantly plagued by downpours and the animals that live in it are forced to hide from the rain in a hibernated state. The main protagonist is Slugcat – a creature that is similar to a cat. It is tasked with gathering enough food to survive the forced resting time. What’s interesting, the ecosystem is filled both with creatures smaller than Slugcat and ones that are much larger. This makes the protagonist the hunter and the prey at the same time. The gameplay concentrates on visiting atmospheric locations, avoiding confrontation with larger predators and avoiding traps and other dangers. Luckily, the unusual protagonist isn’t completely defenseless – he can use a spear that allows him to kill or stun other creatures. Rain World can be played alone or in cooperation mode. Low-key colors and simple graphics fit the grim atmosphere of the game.
