Xbox completed the acquisition of Activision Blizzard one year ago. Here is the current list of Activision Blizzard games available on Game Pass.
It’s been a year since Microsoft completed its acquisition of Activision Blizzard. A lot has changed during that time; the acquisition faced its share of challenges, but ultimately it was finalized. Many players had their doubts about this unprecedented move, while others were excited to see their favorite games added to the Game Pass service. Now, a year later, we can take a look at the games that hit the service, as well as those that are expected to appear there. First, however, let's start with a brief history lesson.
Table of contents:
On January 18, 2022, Microsoft announced its intent to buy Activision Blizzard for nearly $69 billion. After facing challenges and reviews from various entities, including the Federal Trade Commission, the deal was finally completed on October 13, 2023. With this acquisition, Microsoft became the third-largest gaming company in the world, trailing only behind Tencent and Sony. This was also the most expensive video game-related acquisition in history, with a final cost of $75.4 billion.
Under the terms of the agreement, Microsoft gained ownership of several major franchises, including Call of Duty, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Warcraft, StarCraft, Diablo, Overwatch, and Candy Crush. As we all know, some of these games have already made their way to Game Pass, while others are still pending, with no official word from Microsoft. To celebrate the one-year anniversary of the acquisition, we’ve put together two lists: the first covers Activision Blizzard games currently available on Game Pass, while the second highlights games from the Activision Blizzard catalog that may be added in the future.
