Rumor: GTA 6 Map Getting More Detailed; Another Screenshot Leaked

New, rather detailed screenshots showing the map of Vice City and its surroundings - the areas that we'll probably visit in GTA 6 - appeared in the web. There are also continuing speculations about the release date of Rockstar's new game. According to the latest reports, it will not come out for another 4-5 years.

One would like to say that the release of Grand Theft Auto VI is fast approaching, but the only thing we can expect now are leaks. Some time ago we informed that pictures showing the likely location of the sixth installment of the series were making rounds on the Internet. Not everyone found them credible, but a part of the community was convinced that this is a map of Vice City and its surroundings - the areas we're supposed to visit in the sixth installment. Now we have another argument to prove it - on Sunday a new, more detailed photo has hit the web.

The area shown on it is undoubtedly the southern part of Florida - compare it to the real map (screenshot below). To the northeast stretches the city of Miami, which served as the setting of GTA: Vice City and Vice City Stories. In the south, there are less urbanized areas, including, I think, the wetlands marked in dark green. The whole thing is slightly different from the actual state - even the coastline is shaped somewhat differently - but there can be no question of lack of similarity.

Gaming community on Reddit is certain - either we really are dealing with a map of GTA VI... or with a carefully prepared fake. The question is, would anyone want to upload more fake images just to mislead people? It seems more likely that a current or former Rockstar employee is behind the leaks (or maybe 'leaks'?), and that the maps combined into one really do represent the world of Grand Theft Auto VI. As himikotogaas wrote on Reddit, we've known these screenshots for a while now, presented in increasingly advanced form, so let's hope they turn out to be true.

However, it is worth remembering that credible or not, these are all still just rumors and should be approached with caution. It's the same with the release date - just a week ago we informed that the release of GTA VI will probably take place at the end of 2023, and meanwhile, a bucket of cold water was poured on the heads of enthusiastic fans. All thanks to Twitter user Okami, who - without providing his source - stated that we're going to have to wait four or five more years for the sixth installment and it would be a big surprise to him if we'd get the game before 2025.

These reports, of course, are not to be trusted blindly, but Okami has already proven to be a reliable source of information in February, letting us know that this year's, still officially unannounced, installment of the Call of Duty series - probably subtitled World War II: Vanguard - is being developed by Sledgehammer Games (Activision confirmed this only in May). However, no one would be offended if this time the user's information turned out to be false. We'll have a chance to check their credibility this week, because today he announced that we're about to see a trailer for Battlefield 6. Now we just have to wait.

Leak of GTA VI's map would not be the first such case in the history of Rockstar Games. I do not know if you remember, but before the release of Red Dead Redemption II screenshots showing the game world also hit the web. At that time, the community also did not quite believe them. Eventually, they turned out to be true. Maybe it will be the same with the map of Vice City?
