What is SpellForce: Conquest of Eo about?

SpellForce: Conquest of Eo is a spin-off of the SpellForce series, which is better known for combining the RTS genre with RPG. In this installment we also make tactical decisions, but this time we are dealing with a turn-based 4X strategy. The gameplay is based on exploration, expansion, exploitation and extermination. We play a mage who, like Saruman from his tower, expands magical knowledge with new spells, gains artifacts, develops army and conquers new territories. The game offers a turn-based combat system, crafting and plenty of side quests. We get apprentices to help us and we choose between different sorcerer archetypes. The gameplay is exclusively single-player.

What makes it worth playing?

The game successfully combines strategic actions on a large map with fairly fast turn-based skirmishes and even a few RPG elements. There is a lot of fun in discovering more spells and abilities, especially as they are different for each mage. Thanks to this, the choice at the beginning of the game makes a big difference, and we can once again try our luck in a slightly different gameplay after finishing the playthrough. The campaign stands at a good level. It has its moments and puts moral choices in front of us. For genre fans it's a position worth recommending.
