Another attempt to recreate the universe of the popular HBO TV series (based on A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin) in the form of video game. This time it was created by the French studio Cyanide, known for sports games Chaos League and Blood Bowl. The result is a third-person RPG the plot of which is set in the world from the novels but tells a brand new story with fresh characters. You take part in events from the perspective of two heroes – Mors Westford from the Night's Watch and Alester who is returning to Westeros from exile. The gameplay is based mostly on classic RPG mechanics, with choosing various classes and careers and developing a character by gaining experience points. However, the developer designed an original combat system, which, unlike mechanics in typical hack’n’slash games, requires focusing on tactics and combining various actions, both offensive and defensive, in deadly sequences.

Aliens vs Predator is a first-person action game developed by Rebellion. It is a reboot of the popular FPS series released between 1999 and 2002. The game's plot combines elements from two popular comic book and movie series. We can play as a Xenomorph, the Predator, or as a Marine. There are three campaigns available, each of them having its own unique gameplay mechanics. If we choose to play as a Marine, we get a rather typical first-person shooter, where we use state-of-the-art technology to eliminate the alien species. However, playing as either a Xenomoprhs or the Predator is very different, due to the species unique abilities. Xenomorphs, endowed with deadly claws and tail, can walk on walls and ceilings. They can not only kill their enemies, but also assimilate them. The Predator can see in infrared, and is equipped with many useful and deadly weapons, like a plasma caster, spear, or a crossbow.

A first person survival sandbox game, developed by independent Canadian studio Hinterland. The team includes veteran game developers, who previously worked for Relic Entertainment, Volition, and BioWare. The game takes you into a post-apocalyptic world after a massive geomagnetic storm. With all electronic devices disabled and water and food supplies running low, the player has to struggle to survive the incoming winter. The game’s sandbox mechanics and its open-world structure give much freedom of gameplay, whose biggest challenges are survival and making difficult moral choices. The game features a compelling narrative written by Marianne Krawczyk, the author of scripts for such titles as God of War and L.A. Noire. The game’s unique character is emphasized by its unusual graphics, designed by Hokyo Lima (known for League of Legends).

A combination of adventure and arcade games, created by an independent developer known as Infinite Ammo. The player assumes the role of Mae - a cat with paranormal abilities. The protagonist quits her studies and returns to her hometown - Possum Springs, in order to have some quality time with her old friends. The place has fallen into decline since the last mine in town was closed, because the inhabitants have been left without work. What is worse however, is that a neighboring forest has apparently kept some dark secret concealed. The plot serves the role of an parallel to human existence, with themes such as death, transience of all things or longing for certain moments from the past elaborated on throughout the story. The player is required to explore (by jumping across platforms mostly) a unique in-game environment, solve simple puzzles connected to it, talk to NPCs, as well as engage in joyful activities, such as playing the guitar or having fun with the in-game friends. What distinguishes Night in the Woods from other titles, are its visuals based on an original art style - those were crafted by Scott Benson. The unique soundtrack on the other hand, was created by Alec Holowka.

What’s interesting, in the game the player doesn't have to fight many opponents at once. All fights are 1 on 1 encounters. Heavily wounded, the protagonist is plagued by visions of his past contracts. Some of them are brand new missions and not related to one another, while some are more or less redesigned missions from the first Hitman game. Game mechanics employ the same well-proven gameplay formula from the previous installments in the series. Each of the 12 long missions features several objectives that can be completed in many different ways. Moreover, the game is darker and more brutal than its predecessors thanks to an interesting story and some audiovisual tricks.
