Another installment in the popular Japanese RPG series developed by Nihon Falcom Corp. Once again, the players get to travel to the land of Zemuria, more exactly to the territory known as Erebonia, where the Thors Military Academy is located. The school is attended by children of both gentry and common citizens – the exception being the 7th grade comprising only the main protagonists of the game. The action of the game is set during one school year, in which the students increase their skills, acquire military experience, and overcome the differences that divide them. The background of the story is filled with ever-growing tensions in the society that might result in an outbreak of a civil war. The plot of The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel features a non-linear structure and is shaped by the decisions made by the players. In comparison to the previous installments in the series, this game stands out with its multiple improvements, the most prominent being the TPP perspective, which has replaced the typical for the series top down perspective. Additionally, the game features more dialogues and a modified combat system. Once again, battles are turn-based, however, they are more dynamic because of the combo system enabling players to mount spectacular and powerful attack sequences. Moreover, the choices a player makes throughout the game affect the combat efficiency of particular characters.

A science-fiction tactical space simulator shooter. It is the debut title of Marauder Interactive – a studio founded by Mike Tipul, one of the designers of Halo: Reach. In the game, the player assumes the role of one of loyal commanders of dead Emperor, who is tasked with punishing the traitors which caused the monarch’s death. In order to do it, player takes control of a modern fighter jet, Executor Mk II, and commands the remains of the defeated fleet of the empire. The gameplay mechanics in House of the Dying Sun are based on classic space simulators. However, they are supplemented with expanded strategic aspect. During the missions, player is not only tasked with controlling the ship, but commanding a whole squadron through a special tactical screen similar to the one from Homeworld series as well.

This time around, the players get to visit the Mirkwood and under the command of Galadriel and Celeborn fight not only orcs but also other monsters such as giant spiders. The list of new locations features the stronghold of Dol Guldur hiding countless dangers that the players have to face in groups of three, six, or twelve – the most prominent threat being the King of Nazguls. This battle is one of the most epic in the history of The Lord of the Rings Online. Moreover, the Siege of Mirkwood expansion raises the level cap, introduces entirely new artifacts, and delivers a number of improvements to the game’s mechanics (e.g. modified combat system). The add-on features also a new game mode called Skirmish, in which the player can train his soldiers and fight in random instances that are part of The War of the Ring.

Mount & Blade: With Fire and Sword is set in Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth during the 17th century, drawing inspiration from the works of a Polish novelist, Henryk Sienkiewicz. As per the series' tradition, we play the role of an adventurer trying to find his place in a world engulfed in conflicts. The gameplay is based on the original Mount & Blade, being a mix of RPG and strategy game. With Fire and Sword brings some novelties to the series: changes to the open-world environment, the introduction of firearms and historical formations (e.g. the famous Polish Hussars), as well as fictionalized side quests, often given by characters from Sienkiewicz's novels.

God Eater is an action RPG developed by Namco Bandai for PlayStation Portable. The game takes place in an undefined dystopian future. We begin our adventure right in the middle of a conflict between Aragami, god-like creatures that attacked our planet, and God Eaters, the only humans capable of defeating the invaders. We play as one of them, and our task is to defeat the Aragami. Three other heroes aid us in combat. We use a powerful and universal weapon, Deus Ex Machina, when fighting our enemies. We can transform it into a blade, a gun, or the weapon's special form anytime we want to. The last one allows us to drain life force from our enemies and strengthen our shields, or use the Aragami's special attacks against them. The developers created over one hundred levels and many types of enemies, each characterized by its various strengths and weaknesses.

Apart from international conflicts, you have to deal with your country’s internal problems, like the unification of the Great Britain and religious conflicts (the Reformation and the Counter-Reformation). The key new elements in mechanics concern expanding the diplomatic aspects and introducing a new mission system that makes the gameplay less linear.
