A refreshed version of Jamestown: Legend of the Lost Colony, a side-scroller taking place in an unusual setting. We are taken to an alternative version of 17th century, in which the Spanish, British, and Martian forces clash in a fight for the right to colonize Mars. The player assumes control over a small vessel that is tasked with the elimination of hordes of enemies that appear along the way. The gameplay of the new edition is almost identical to its predecessor, offering a two-dimensional side-scrolling experience seen from a top-down perspective. The action has a considerable pace, with simultaneous attack and evasive maneuvers requiring a good deal of dexterity. When it comes to novelties, Jamestown Plus contains a number of updates and fixes, as well as new ship models with unique armament and special abilities. Moreover, the authors introduced a new chapter of the story which concludes the events seen in the original game.

A brutal, dynamic action game set in a fantasy world. It was developed by DrinkBox - a studio popular for such games as Mutant Blobs Attack or Guacamelee. The player assumes the role of a female warrior who realizes that she has lost her left arm. Traversing a land full of magic, fantasy civilizations and ancient ruins, the protagonist tries to discover the truth behind the mutilation. The game is played from the first person perspective and the player fights subsequent enemies mainly, making use of an unusual combat system based on gestures. A key part is played by chopping off extremities of enemies, which can be later assembled to the protagonist's body making her more effective in combat and granting access to new fighting techniques. The game stands out with a minimalistic interface and an original graphic style. The latter is filled with sharp lines and very bright colors.

A mix of several genres: survival sandbox, action RPG, and roguelike. Proven Lands was developed by a few independent developers known as thesetales. The player assumes control of a crew member whose spaceship had crashed on an uncharted planet. Separated from the rest of the crew, the hero has to survive on his own by gathering resources and supplies, hunting wild animals, crafting tools and building shelter. Interestingly enough, once we’ve managed to reach the necessary tech level, we can embark on a journey through the galaxy, encountering alien planets and races, as well as developing our character by choosing one of the available character classes. All of the game’s contents, including explored worlds, found items, encountered characters, or assigned quests are procedurally generated and directed by an AI game master. Aside from the sandbox mode, the authors prepared an extensive single-player campaign which develops the aforementioned story of the crashed spaceship and its stranded crew. The game is characteristic for its appealing visuals – the game is powered by Unity engine.

The first large expansion to the popular survival game State of Decay. This sandbox title created by Undead Labs takes the player to a post-apocalyptic world overrun by a zombie plague. The player must rebuild the human society. The expansion adds a new campaign, the completing of which takes a few hours. The campaign tells a completely new story. The game takes place in a small city called Denforth, where the protagonist is sent in order to save the scientists that are there. In contrast to the original game, in Lifeline one doesn’t have to face the constant lack of supplies and weaponry – when the game starts, the player has plenty of both. Eventually, however, the hordes of zombies attacking the players hideout will cause the supplies to run out, forcing the player to look for alternative ways of survival. The developers added a bit of non-linearity to the game and greatly improved the communication system in the team.

A tactical strategy with RPG elements taking place in a science-fiction universe. The Red Solstice is oriented mainly towards multiplayer cooperation matches. The game is inspired by classics such as StarCraft, X-COM, or Warhammer 40,000, and was developed by independent Croatian studio Ironward. The action of the game takes place in the distant future, where Earth's population was decimated as a result of a deadly virus, and Mars became a home for the remnants of humanity. An elite marine squad defending the local colonies has to face not only hordes of monsters, but also a powerful space storm. Both single and multiplayer modes received a story campaign. The single player campaign offers 14 missions divided into two subplots. The plot of the multiplayer follows two separated marine squads, while the gameplay is focused around cooperation of 8-man teams. The game offers 8 character classes and randomly generated locations, helping to deal with repetitiveness and weariness ensuing from having to play through the same sequences.

The plot takes place in a fantasy world, located on top of an enormous turtle-dragon called Asura. During the gameplay, we assume the role of an alcohol-adoring heroine named Robin, who is a twisted and adult version of Red Riding Hood. The protagonist had lost her memory a year earlier, with the players helping her retrieve her lost memories. Dragon Fin Soup offers two game modes: story campaign and survival, in the latter we begin the game in the middle of the woods, and our goal is to break through consecutive, increasingly difficult locations and dungeons. The game incorporates a turn-based combat system with a lot of tactical depth, including, among others, different types of damage dealt by different weapons and spells. The gameplay is diversified by logic puzzles and arcade mini-games.

The second installment in a unique simulation game series, developed by an independent studio, Might and Delight. In contrast to the first installment, in which we played as a female badger, Shelter 2 gives us an opportunity to play as a pregnant female lynx. The game recreates the life of the species in its natural habitat. During the gameplay, the player has to ensure adequate conditions for the development of their offspring. One has to find a den, gather food and protect the offspring against natural threats. The gameplay is more complex this time, because different new elements were introduced, such as the stamina meter. Since the traits possessed by a lynx are different to those of a badgers, the gameplay mechanics are slightly different. Similarly to the first game, Shelter 2 greatly emphasizes the survival aspects and the bonds between the lynx and its offspring. The original "patchwork" graphics, based on somewhat old-fashioned vector models, were not changed.

The plot is set in an alternative reality of the 20th century. In 1940s, Russian scientists discovered a wreck of an alien spacecraft and used the technology obtained from the craft to create an incredibly powerful weapon for the KGB. When a power-hungry general decides to use that weapon against Europe, one engineer stands up to him, having constructed their own combat mech. The player controls this machine in the game, destroying everything that comes from the opposite side of the screen - both from the ground and air. When out of combat, the player speeds through the levels, avoiding obstacles and gathering various collectibles that allow for mech upgrades. Interestingly, the machine can transform into a tank at any time, which changes the combat style and armament.
