In contrast to DiRT - the other flagship franchise of the British developer, GRID: Autosport continues the tradition established by the TOCA Touring Car Championship and TOCA Race Driver series, that is, racing on asphalt tracks. The player assumes the role of a professional driver who competes against other racers, but he also has to care about his team members and stick to sponsorship contracts. This new installment offers 22 different tracks and over a hundred customizable cars, including both production models as well a unique prototypes - all of these account for an impressive number. The game offers improved visuals and a cockpit view, which is an element that GRID 2 was deprived of. A large emphasis was placed on the multiplayer aspects of the game, for the players are allowed to create online racing clubs, as well as to participate in subsequent, regularly appearing challenges.

The new installment takes place in Southern Europe where another Horizon festival takes place. The festival is filled with good music and variety of racing challenges. Similarly as its predecessor, the title offers a large, open world where hundreds of licensed cars await the player. Similarly as the first entry in the spin-off series, the game offers a driving model that is slightly simplified in comparison to Forza Motorsport – it focuses mostly on making the races impressively looking. For the first time in the series the developers implemented a dynamically changing weather system which adds some realism to the races. The developers also added the Drivatars system known from Forza Motorsport 5, enabling the virtual drivers to gain experience even if they don’t participate in the game.

The game was developed by an EA in-house studio, also known for e.g. several previous installments of the franchise and the Skate series. The game takes place in a virtual city full of many attractions and divided into themed districts. The players participate in various events, racing against AI opponents or other players. When you crash into a police car, you can also compete against the police. With the reputation points gained in the races you can unlock next driver levels and special abilities, while the money you earn can be spent on mechanical and visual tuning. The game is free to play, although it utilizes microtransactions to buy various power-ups, more garage space or to rent exclusive cars. The game was shut down on 14th July 2015.

In the single player campaign, the players participate in a series of subsequent races and challenges. In doing so, they unlock new cups, vehicles, and other accessories. Furthermore, the game features a local multiplayer mode for the maximum of four players. The graphics are colorful and full of impressive explosions. Apart from that, the game supports the Oculus Rift virtual reality goggles.

You can choose the right motorcyclist for each challenge, which increases your chances to win. There are 22 licensed motorcycles to choose from (such as Honda, BMW, Kawasaki, KTM, Yamaha), divided into three classes, and 20 tracks, on which you can drive by day or night. Each victory earns you funds, which you can spend on new vehicles and raising your club's renown. Apart from the single player campaign, the game features an online mode, in which you can play with three other people at once.
