The fourth installment in a series of zombie-themed, third-person action games developed by Capcom. The story campaign brings a continuation to the storylines presented in the first installment. The player assumes the role of Frank West (appeared first in the original game) - a photographer trapped in a town overrun by hordes of zombies. During the Christmas period, he has to somehow survive through a period of several days, waiting for help to arrive.

After the outbreak of zombie epidemic heroes are trying to get to Atlanta, where supposedly was set safe zone.

The main axis of the game is of course elimination of the hordes of zombies, which at one point can appear on the screen in thousands.

The game is set in a virtual London, featuring the digital copies of all of its key landmarks. Players become the survivors, who need to find shelter and supplies in order to have a chance against the living dead.
